The gator was caught near Camden, Ala., by Mandy Stokes along with her husband John Stokes and her brother-in-law Kevin Jenkins and his two teenage children, Savannah Jenkins, 16, and Parker Jenkins, 14, all of Thomaston, Ala. (Sharon Steinmann/ssteinmann@al.com) THOMASTON, Alabama - Mandy Stokes put her pearls on Friday night. Ever since Keith Fancher and his crew pulled a 14-foot, 2-inch, 838-pound alligator from the Alabama River in 2011 to set the standard for the largest ever legally killed by an Alabama hunter, Stokes had jokingly told friends and family that if she was ever drawn for a tag, she would wear her finest so she'd look good when being interviewed after breaking it. The pearls looked good hanging around her neck Saturday afternoon about 10 hours after she and her crew of husband John Stokes, brother-in-law Kevin Jenkins and his children Savannah, 16, and Parker, 14, brought a monster alligator to the check-in station at Roland Cooper State Park in Camden. Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries biologists had no trouble measuring the beast at 15 feet even, but they had to call for some relief when trying to weigh it. The first attempt completely destroyed the winch assembly used to easily hoist most average gators, including the Fancher alligator. Enlisting the assistance of a park backhoe to lift it, a WFF biologist officially called the weight at 1,011.5 pounds. Those dimensions easily make the Stokes gator the biggest ever killed in Alabama. An internet search suggests it may be the largest alligator ever legally killed by a hunter anywhere in the world.

Comments

  1. who else thinks this is pink sheep
  2. And he was eating a man's cattle
  3. We haven't hunted gators here in Alabama fo years and we need to manage the population and if it makes you feel better the meat was donated to charity
  4. Reading the comments on this pisses me off! It is pathetic animal loving SCUM that makes me doubt humanity. Why should you care about humans killing animals? You shouldn't! It's a worthless animal that would of died NOMATTER WHAT soo why care if some people killed a large dangerous animal that could possibly kill many humans and harm the ecosystem? Humans have been killing animals for thousands of years for food, fun, and culture some even do this today! If you are soo anti killing then why not go down there and do something about it? Oh wait you are too lazy and don't care enough for real action but only care enough to leave a comment on a YouTube video and ridicule someone else's achievement. I am not a redneck or from the south btw
  5. The biggest alligators that was caught was in the Philippine it was Measuring 6.4m (21ft) and weighing 1,075kg (2,370lb). And they only caught the guy theirs one more out their eating people at the philippines and its the girl its bigger then the guy the one they caught
  6. Wow if you guess kill it you should go to jail
  7. I get why some people don't like hunting animals and why they think it's so bad, but what people don't realize is that humans are part of the food chain too! I'm not saying that I agree with what these people did, killing a phenomenon of nature and then taking pictures with it, but what I am saying is that if humans didn't exist, then the whole world would be totally out of balance. Every living thing was made to keep the earth in balance in some way, and humans are living things. All I'm saying is if we didn't hunt these creatures, then that would be EVEN WORSE than all the pollution and global warming and such.
  8. I'd like to fill his head with cannon balls and powder his behind.
  9. Louisiana has the world record with an alligator at 19 feet 2 inches weighing over 2,000 pounds it's well documented. And Louisiana has a current Gator in a protected wild life reserve over 16ft and that was 10years ago so i imagine he's bigger now. Sorry but it's the truth.
  10. Such big animal. I wish it killed them instead them killing it
  11. Why do they always have to kill the biggest, the most exceptional?
  12. they found a whole freaking deer inside side of it and their eating the meat so who gives a hoot this bad boy cant eat you
city slickers lap dogs now be thankfull yuppies
  13. Good catch!! way to go guys!!
  14. judging by the comments we would all rather hunt each other. why not just exchange addresses and let the most dangerous game begin?
  15. Im kinda torn on this.  I love alligator meat but seeing this beast dead sucks.  This animals was the best of the best and probably went through hell to make it to be this big.  I guess I'm a hypocrite......
  16. Most likely hunt to make a living and control the gator population. It's not out of pure enjoyment. It's too easy to look at a video and judge instead try and understand.
  17. Lmao@people commenting on this saying killing animals is wrong and all that BS! The people in the vid
