100-year-old pole vaulter Don Pellmann sets records

Don Pellmann of Santa Clara, California, makes three attempts at becoming the first 100-year-old to clear a height in the pole vault. At the San Diego Senior Olympics on Sept. 20, 2015, he sets age-group world records in the long jump and high jump — and extends the world record in the discus with each of his three throws. His world records in the 100-meter dash and shot put are in another video from the meet at San Diego Mesa College. 11. 'What does your performance tell you?'
'Well, that it was a poor day as I wanted the pole vault as well, but, you know...'

This attitude (I know, alongside genes, luck, and so on) explains why this man's 100 and setting sporting records. You never get anything achieved if you don't give yourself the chance. :)
