  1. Love your videos and adventures. Whip that out haul as tight as you can get it, tighten the main halyard and you will flatten the sail, get much tighter to the wind and deposed the sail in a blow. Enjoy your journeys and stay safe.
  2. Awesome videos guys, good image Quality, good audio and lovely editing .. keep up the good job!
BTW that water looks freezing cold, come down to S. Florida !
  3. Kewl wreck! You guys are gaining invaluable experience. Love your videos. Keep on, and keep safe!
  4. What was the chart plotter app on the cell phone.. I have a small sailboat and a readable version would be very helpful. My Thanks Jay
  5. Beautiful views at 2:07. Nice to have someone close enough and willing to give ya tow. IF there is one thing I love more than sailing videos. Its under water videos. :)
  6. I'm guessing that your guys have some aversion to a wet suit? I've been in that water, what is, maybe 50F ? Makes my teeth chatter everytime you jump in!
  7. Hi Guys, I am planning to eventually go to Haiti myself, from Montreal. What size is your boat please ?
  8. Does sea sickness go away after any length of time on a boat? I know there are remiedies but just wondering if it is something you get used to over time?
  9. Wait you guys aren't in the Georgian bay NOW?? Just playing ;) You guys have to let us know when you're finally making your way down the coast to Bahamas, we gotta meet up!
  10. I'm sure you have discovered a long time ago now that it was your fuel filters clogged with gunk. Carry lots of spares and see if you can find a tractor fuel separator that has a screen element to be first in the series. Then to the marine fuel filters. A little unorthodox, but it can help a lot. Seems like you never get rid of the gunk in the tank.

Second, have a rig you can connect to a strapped down jerry can for when you're in a pinch and need an engine. It's much easier to have clean fuel in a jerry can and need minimal filtering then. Because it's diesel it will be safe. I would never recommend this for a gas engine.

Third, I noticed in some of the video your main was backwinded by the jib. It means your slot was too narrow and/or your main tension was wrong. I also saw that your jib sheet fairleads should be much further back to tension the foot of the sail more. On your boat, the jib can handle a little more slack in the leach of the jib. It will give more room for the main.

Just a few suggestions for future trips. Fair winds and following seas my friends. Thanks for sharing your adventures and struggles with us! I love what you're doing!
  11. Another great video!
  12. You need a tiller tamer or something to steady the tiller for you, doing it by hand for any length of time is tiring. Fortunately my B25 came with an autotiller.
  13. Love your videos, there is always something happening on a sailboat, please keep them coming. Happy New Year
  14. Fuel system would be my first guess to. I saw Nike from WhiteSpotPirates bypass her primary fuel filter once just to locate the problem. Thought that was a smart idea.
  15. Hi guys - sorry you've hit snags with the fuel supply. You've probably thought of it, but often a cause of filters becoming blocked is dirt in the fuel tank itself. Your issue arose after a spell of lumpy seas, when the contents of the tank would have been stirred up. It's worth checking that the tank is clean, free of water or - worse - diesel bug, or else you may re-encounter the problem after every spell of sailing in choppy waters.
Incidentally, fwiw I agree with Keth Comollo (comment 6 hours ago). Sail trim is key to performance - on the particular sailing passage you've just been on you could have extracted an additional knot or two of speed, which can add up to many hours saved on a long-ish voyage.
Finally - writing this on New Year's Day and wishing you both every happiness in 2016 - sorry you can't be at the London Boat Show in 10 days' time or the Auckland Boat Show in May ..... :-)
  16. sorry about the engine trouble hope its fixed with the filter. I love the new music! cheers
  17. Same thing happened to me not long after I picked up my boat. Except in my situation I started the motor to head inshore as I had just taken the sails down because a local weather front was passing through with 30knt winds. Luckily got a tow off a fishing trawler. Changed the filters, and got a diesel 101 lesson from a fisherman on how to bleed the fuel lines. Learnt the lesson that when things go wrong, they usually happen at the worst possible time.
  18. The joy of owning a boat...
    Happy New Year!
  19. Another cool video...BTW, what app is that you use on your phone?
  20. Happy New Year.
