Seeing these videos bring back so many memories. QBs were like a endangered species then. The Bears and the Giants then were the top defenses then and they just would humiliate many offensive teams outside of San Francisco then.
That old Silverdome tuft was know as "green concrete".
To all you people bitching about how "this hit would be illegal today" ... Yeah, no shit! But it wasn't back then. Go look at video of any game from the time and you'll see countless hits like this (perhaps none quite as ferocious, but with the same technique). Why people are complaining and saying Marshall is a dirty player is beyond me? That was the style of hitting defense that was taught back then. So if you don't mind ... STFU!

Marshall led with his head and SPEARED defenseless Ferguson full speed in the neck/face. Eff all of you who think spearing someone in the face is a "great hit." Glad Marshall is an arthritis crippled invalid today for that sickening cheap shot.
