it was overcast so we couldnt spot fish so well.....
truth is the fish died of stress from losing its slime coat it got sick and caught a virus from being netted multiple times and never recouped

Even if you do fish...this method of fishing is what I call UNSPORTSMANLIKE ENTRAPMENT. To hover over a fish you can see, and drop a large lure down in front of her face like this is not sporting at all. You KNOW that fish is going to attack anything she sees come near her. I mean that's how we fisherman catch fish. We rely on that automatic attack mechanism, but to hover over a fish like that, on her nest, that's just plain entrapment, and should be banned. By the way, I've been fishing since I was 4 years old, so I can say that.

What a horrific way to weigh such an enormous fish. Over a certain size the fish needs to be supported evenly in a wet fine mesh sling or tarpaulin. Not to mention how much force is needed to grip the fish by the delicate mouth parts. With sympathetic handling, carp & catfish in the UK and Europe can grow to >40lbs and can be caught many times. The stress killed her. We should all learn from anglers like Cyril Chauquet and Jeremy Wade that treat the animal with respect.
