300 HP Miller 4 cylinder engine Coolspring 2007

This is a video of the 300 HP 4 cylinder opposed Miller engine in operation at Coolspring, Pa. It was filmed at the 2007 October show. Originaly this unit was belted to a large IR air compresor where it supplied air pressure to run steam engine powered oil field wells. Although the video only shows the engine, the original air compressor is in the engine builing and will be belted to the engine in the future

  1. My brother put a used Mitsubishi Lancer turbo in his four cylinder 2.0L Saab and replaced the turbo with the lancer turbo. The results were, three hundred and two horse power, which may i reminded you is the same horse power as the 3.5L V6 mercedes E class sport sedan, but, not only does it get 302 horsepower, but it has 370 foot pounds of torgue! Its excellent at high way speeds, and 0-60 time is only 4.7 seconds. Its blows away the 5L V8 mustang, and keeps up with the BMW Z4M.
  2. Kudos to those concerned people who spent time, sweat, research, brain power, and whatever else to bring us this gem of a video. And YT for letting us in on it!!!
  3. chuck norris starts it with a rope!!
  4. Imagine the amount of torque that puts out, not to mention if an engine that size ran away out of control!
  5. @Torvikholm It's not a Boxer engine. In a Boxer engine, the connecting rods on opposing cylinders are not connected to the same journal.
  6. It's certainly a magnificent piece of machinery. Thanks for sharing it with us.
  7. interesting machine. sounds good too!
  8. how about putting that Boxer into a Porsche?
  9. Considering what the pistons and the connecting arms weigh, it amazing to think they are moving with such velocity: from an instantaneous dead stop to maximum acceleration then back to a stop in a blink of the eye! It was also amazing what our fore fathers created with the tools they had... thanks for posting and sharing these historic examples of Americana! Roy Lewis Atlanta, Georgia USA
