With all the "rules" put in place in the last 2 decades both NASCAR and F1 cars are a lot slower than they would have been. Cars were getting "too fast" for the tracks so the Nanny slowed the cars down for safety. Well, auto racing wasn't made to watch slow cars go round and round. F1 cars should be hitting 270mph on the long straights and NASCAR should be running 20-30mph faster than they are. The whole point of Auto Racing is Speed and who can run the fastest laps, not watching a bunch of identical cars going round and round...

When racing was racing and drivers were men!
I used to love racing until nascar inserted itself into deciding the outcomes of certain races and controlling drivers persona's and lives. we need to see an organization return a race sport to pure stock cars like these were. stock engines (with headers and gears) safety equipment and tires. that is when racing was racing and it actually did sell cars on Monday. people were brand fanatics and rooted for their cars.
Amazing a what a difference the aero flaps make between the first few minutes and the second half as they found ways to keep the cars on the ground. Also amazing how much additional carnage occurred because drivers refused to lift even when speeding full throttle towards a track wide smoke cloud with debris raining down. I feel like the sport has become much more boring with the emphasis on safety and the cars looking the same.
