Biggest Loser Ali Vincent on Gaining Back Her Weight | Where Are They Now | Oprah Winfrey Network

In 2008, Ali Vincent won the fifth season of The Biggest Loser by dropping 122 pounds, making her the first female to win the fitness reality TV show. This April, on the 8-year anniversary of her victory, Ali says, she was having a meltdown. She couldn't get out of bed and felt a deep shame. She had regained most of the weight she lost on Loser. She wrote a candid post on Facebook about her ongoing struggle to keep the weight off. 1. in another video she says she regained weight because of a sexual attack/abuse. Which, yb the way, is a VERY COMMON reason for women to sudenly get obese by using food like alcohol or other substances to numb the trauma. I think you can get CHUBBY and overweight by merely eating to much sweets/bad and not getting enough sports. But I m quite sure that the majority of really OBESE people got obese because of some sort of "trauma", be t be victim of a crime of any kind, losing a realative by death, abusive relationships they cannot manage to END, and so on....I really think you cannot get really OBESE by merely loving food too much....Sometimes the trauma may have happened DECADES ago before someone develops an eating disorder and following weight gain - but I m absolutely sure, it is THERE somewhere int he past of very obese people...That s why mere "diets" often do not work in the long run, for they have not learnt HOW to deal with feelings from the trauma that every now and then reappear WITHOUT falling back on abusing food... (same applies for anorexia, by the way, not only for binge eating/obesity)
  2. Does metabolic damage mean exercise and healthy eating lead to weight gain from there on??
  3. 1. Resolve the underlying emotional root cause before anything else. 2. Start incorporating small changes into your life in regular intervals and track the progress. 3. Be patient and persistent af and enjoy million benefits that you'll eventually reap. Xx
  4. you still look good
  5. The show helped her find the "best version" of herself and she looked amazing but they miss the ball in helping her back in society and creating a meal/workout plan for her post reality show.. however shes a grown woman and should have learnt from her experience while on the show.. I wish her the best and hope she takes on the challenge to getting back the "best version" of herself x
  6. The truth always heals :)
  7. I've gained back 5 of the 30 pounds I lost. This sucks.
  8. You are soeautiful. Really. Those eyes. Those teeth. Your soul. Do what you want to do. 😃
  9. i love you ali and i WILL defend you from that 1. NO MATTER WHAT.
  10. To anyone who believes everything they see on shows like Biggest Loser. If you really believe that it is easy to lose a ton of weight and keep it off permanently, it is not as easy as it looks. I know from experience!
Over the Summer I lost a total of 25 lbs. It wasn't easy and I lost it slowly.
I went on long walks about 2 or 3 times a week. Usually between Five and 14 miles each time. One time I even walked a total of 24.3 miles! I was walking outside in the Florida heat for several hours at a time. I also went swimming for an hour or more a few times.
After each walk, I only lost two or three lbs!!! Same with swimming, I only lost a few lbs each time from that to.
I went on a diet and did not eat very much over the Summer at all. I didn't eat fast food, I drank 0 calorie diet soda and water. Over the entire Summer I probably only drank 10 cans of beer (That's not normal for me, I used to kill a 12 pack every week)!
I starved myself for two days straight! Then I ate very little on the 3rd day. (BTW, DON'T STARVE YOURSELF! YOU HAVE TO EAT OR IT CAN CAUSE HEALTH PROBLEMS OR EVEN DEATH!!!!!) I did that because I was desperate to lose weight fast.
Then I talked to a Doctor and a Dietician. I explained that I was trying to lose weight, I was dieting and exercising, etc. The Dietician said, "Don't starve yourself anymore, you'll kill yourself!"
I said, "Navy Seals and Army Rangers have to do it as part of their training and they lose a lot of weight." (Ten years ago, I used to be in the Army.)
She said, "Most of the weight they lose from doing that they gain it all back rather quickly after their training is done. Besides that, you're not an Army Ranger or a Navy Seal."
Anyway, at the end of Summer, I got injured and a Doctor told me to stop exercising for a while and just relax until my injuries healed.
When I recovered from muscle injuries in my legs and back as well as having a cyst removed on my back, the Doctor said it would be safe for me to start exercising again.
However, I never got back into the routine of walking or doing a whole lot of other exercise again. Within just a few months- over the Winter, I gained literally ALL of the weight I lost over the Summer back!!!
You really have to work hard for a long time to lose a significant amount of weight. It is not easy to lose it and it's even harder to keep the weight off for a long time!
(Look at Arnold Schwarzenegger when he was the Governor of California. He didn't have much time to workout. What happened to him? He gained weight and stopped building and maintaining muscle mass!)
  11. Drastic weight loss isn't healthy. For these trainers to call themselves trainers when they do this to people is ridiculous. They don't teach real world weight loss or nutrition or how to transition. These poor people... they set them up for failure.
  12. disappointing :'(
  13. Personally I think she looks fine. Especially for her age. What they do on the biggest loser sucks
  14. I've struggled with my weight almost my whole life. I was much smaller in Elementary school, but when I was in middle school I was a pre diabetic. In Freshmsn year I was close to 200 pounds. In Sophmore year of high school I was 143 pounds. I guess because I was active back then. Today I am in college. I'm so much bigger then that now. I have been on on and off diets. I would be on it and then I would mess up like crazy eventually. I start my diet again tomarrow. My goal is to be 143 pounds again, but it's hard to stick with it. You are not alone.
  15. You will come back. we all fall off the wagon at times. Forget what the world thinks and just start again darling
  16. Suggest a diet of SSRI
  17. Gotta love the Maccas ad that came on just before this clip. How ironic 🍔🍔🍔🍟🍟🍟
  18. I think you look beautiful :)
  19. They have them working out up to 8 hours a day. Most top athletes don't work out that much, it's not healthy or sustainable. An hour and a half per day would be ample for a normal person with commitments. They fail to train these people in how to train for the real world, with real world commitments. Hence failure is almost inevitable.
  20. play 0:50 on repeat
