One former winner said he felt ashamed for regaining 100 pounds back, but a new study could shed new light on why this happens.

  1. the faster you lost the weight, the faster you gain the weight
  2. BUT WHAT WERE THEY EATING AFTER THE SHOW???
  3. So did they return the money. People need to still keep working out.
  4. so why are they all burning less calories? how come their methabolism is screwed up?
  5. Reverse dieting
  6. the only thing wrong with this show is that they lose weight too fast, thats why they wreck their metabolism.
On the other side, did anyone ask the fat ones the main question here- "do you live healthy, eat healthy and exercise every day"? Cause I am sure they aren't. And you cant go from a goddamn starvation 3 month bootcamp to normal life and expect everything to be ok. And after first month when they see they are gaining weight, they probably give up, and that study will now just excuse them from trying to slowly get back on track. Wrecked metabolism is not for life, you can fix it. But what do they know about healthy lifestyle, going from one extreme to another.
  7. So whats the problem? You weigh less so you need less calories to maintain. They still have the eating problem.
  8. There's no easy way to lose weight. Keeping it off is so hard, but it's better than being obese. It's your lifestyle now, not your diet. Learn to love it or be obese the rest of your life. What's worse? Yes I am obese and currently losing. Lost over 20lbs so far. I won't complain about not being able to eat greasy food, because I'm healthier. And you can definitely feel full on 1400 calories a day. It's not about how much you eat, but what you eat. There are definitely other factors to my obesity than just being lazy and overeating, but making excuses because it isn't fair that I have to eat differently than everyone else won't make me healthier. I used that excuse for so many years, but I realized I have to stop comparing myself to others and do what I need to do to make myself healthy.
  9. All the vegans need to fuck off.
  10. WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT?
    Plant-based Diets
Michael Greger M.D. · Last Updated on February 22, 2017
A significant convergence of evidence suggests that plant-based diets may help prevent and even reverse some of the top killer diseases in the Western world and can be more effective than medication and surgery. Many of the scourges of modern living might be prevented, including Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and Parkinson’s disease, age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, Crohn’s disease, gallstones, kidney stones, diverticulosis, rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis and vaginal infections.

Additionally, plant-based eating may have a positive effect on abdominal fat, acne, aging, allergies, asthma, body odor, cellulite, childhood IQ, cognition, dysmenorrhea, eczema, gut flora, fibromyalgia, kidney stones, metabolic syndrome, menstrual breast pain, mood, multiple sclerosis, oral health, rheumatoid arthritis, waist circumference and weight control.

    Pollutants in Meat
Eating meat and other animal products may be associated with a shortened lifespans. Meat contains a high amount of saturated fat, trans fats, sulfur dioxide arachidonic acid and heme iron. Meat, fish, dairy and eggs may also increase our exposure to dietary antibiotics, industrial toxins, mercury and other toxic heavy metals, advanced glycation end-products (AGE)s, cadmium, xenoestrogens in fish and estrogenic meat carcinogens.

A plant-based diet can detoxify the body of these pollutants. Even just small steps toward eating more fruit and vegetables may lengthen lifespan.

    Vegans’ Nutritional Needs
Contrary to popular myth, vegans have healthy bones and higher blood protein levels than omnivores. Most vegans get more than enough protein. In one study, within a matter of weeks, participants placed on a plant-based diet experienced improvements in blood pressure, cholesterol and insulin levels, insulin resistance and C-reactive protein levels.

Vegans may have fewer nutrient deficiencies than average omnivores while maintaining a lower body weight without losing muscle mass. Those eating plant-based diets appear to experience enhanced athletic recovery without affecting the benefits of exercise. The arteries of vegans appear healthier than even long-distance endurance athletes and those on low-carb diets. In fact, the Paleo Diet may increase the risk of toxin contamination, DNA damage and cancer.

There are two vitamins people need that are not available in plants: vitamins D and B12. There is a serious risk of B12 deficiency if no supplements or B12-fortified foods are consumed. Two other nutrients to monitor are iodine and zinc. Yeast- or algae-based long chain omega 3 fatty acids may also be beneficial.

    Better Nutrition Education Needed
Medical training continues to underemphasize nutrition education, and patients often do not receive information about all of their treatment options. Doctors report they don’t practice preventative cardiology because they believe their patients aren’t capable of changing their diets. Kaiser Permanente has begun more aggressive efforts to apprise patients about the advantages of plant-based diets.

Other Benefits of a Plant-based Diet
If significantly more people transitioned to plant-based diets, Medicare costs could drop by the billions of dollars. Plant-based diets may also help lessen greenhouse gas emissions and have a smaller impact on the environment.
  11. Jenifer Hudson didn't lose all of that weight overnight though 😒
  12. Weight loss is about biochemistry and that is premised on genetics which dictates what your metabolic and resting metabolic rate is you cannot change biochemistry within the body unless it is artificially changed through scientific means through pharmacology and the intervention of new scientific intervention. Dr Michael Schwartz, MD director of the Diabetes and Obesity Center stated that within 5-10 years those who have lost a considerable amount of weight gained it all back within that time frame Biologically its impossible to maintain a weight deficit and maintain it.
  13. eat 3 meals a day no snacks do light exercise and enjoy life
  14. I lost more than 100lbs and currently I don't have any metabolic damage. I burn as much as I should each day. I didn't do it with any special diet such as veganism or high protein. I just ate at a small deficit (1500-1800 calories for a 5'1'' woman) and worked out frequently but not to a point that I damage my then unfit body.

I feel sorry for these people because they were treated with extreme diets and exercise regimens but didn't learn beforehand the reasons they're having these bad habits. I still have bad days where I struggle with maintaining my weight and I certainly worry about losing control again. I've maintained for over 2 years now, I am proud but I still have a journey to make, that being a journey of self acceptance.

Weight loss is simple: eat less junk and move more. The mindset is the thing that has to change for good to start and/or maintain the weight loss. No specific diet, workout program will do this for you. It's only you and that's the wonderful aspect of it. Get to know how strong you are and get yourself where you really deserve to be. :)

P.S. We are far more than what we weigh or what we eat. So a good tip to people who wanna lose weight is to find something that you like and go for it. It can be anything as long as you like it. Extend yourself further than food and body image and express yourself. Anything that makes you feel well is more likely to help you making yourself healthier!
  15. So are they doomed to be fat forever?
  16. Reading these comments, I've noticed that the majority are touting the virtues of veganism. It appears as if Freelee the Banana girl has let her fans loose here and I wouldn't doubt that most of these Biggest Loser videos are rife with this constant barrage of ego-driven idiocy. Freelee has over 400 of those videos, that are basically just click bait and not much more.
  17. Whole foods, vegan!!!!
  18. So many pretentious vegans in these comments... Good for you for eating like a rabbit. Most of us prefer to eat like a human. Get over yourselves already. Fuck.....
  19. is this guy an idiot when you lose weight your metabolic rate slows down NO IT DOES NOT. Your MR slows as you age or if you don't keep moving thats what slows it down no losing weight. How you lose weight and how much you eat can slow down too. They were on a starvation diet to lose rapid weight so no lifestyle change is made no fucking shit its going to regain.
