BIGGEST ZOO IN THE WORLD V LOG #2

Spread over 380 acres, the Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad is the third most visited destination. Named after the first Indian Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, the zoo has been successfully managed and run by the Hyderabad forest department for over 4 decades. The zoo harbors, an impressive amount of biodiversity, with more than 100 species of birds, reptiles and mammals calling this place their home. You can find fruit bats, slender loris, macaques, civets, great horned owls, Indian rhino, Asiatic lions, pythons etc. The rugged, uneven landscape here works well in giving a more 'natural feel' to the animals. The nocturnal animals are kept separate, where the zoo reverses the day/night lighting's artificially, so that visitors can see active nocturnal animals in the daylight. The Mir Alam tank attracts a number of migratory birds, which adds to the charm of the zoo. You can try speed boating or experience a wildlife safari organized by the zoo. All said, the Nehru Zoological Park is a wonderful destination for a family picnic, especially for kids. Welcome to Nehru Zoological Park, and its sylvan setting, abutting the historic miralam Tank bund, (200 year old, World's first multi arch masonry dam). The Zoo spread in over 380 acres established on 6th October, 1963. This is the first Zoo in India to have animals arranged in Zoological order, in open enclosures. Such open enclosures, in near natural ambience, makes animals feel "at home". This helps in their breeding, and study on animal behaviour. No wonder, the Zoo has bred successfully several indigenous animals like Asiatic Lions, Royal Bengal Tigers (Yellow & White), Panthers, Indian Rhino, Gaur, Several primates, Bears, Deers, Antelopes, Birds, Reptiles etc. Exotic animals like Giraffe, Iguanas, Chimpanzee have also bred here. The Zoo is proud prossessor of a large variety of animals.
