Top Snowmobile Rider Dies After X Games Crash - Snowmobiler Caleb Moore Dies After Crash Caleb Moore, 25, suffered a concussion and internal bleeding after a dramatic crash where his 450lb vehicle rolled over him. A freestyle snowmobile rider has died after being injured in a crash during the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado. Caleb Moore, 25, had been in hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado, following the accident on January 24 and died on Thursday. Moore was attempting a back flip in the freestyle event when the skis on his 450lb snowmobile caught the lip of the landing area, sending him flying over the handlebars. He landed face-first in the snow - before his vehicle rolled over him. Moore was able to walk away from the accident with assistance and went to hospital suffering from a concussion. But he later developed bleeding around his heart and was flown to Grand Junction for surgery. His family said the Texas native suffered a complication involving his brain. He won four Winter X Games medals - a silver and three bronzes. One of the bronzes was picked up last year when his younger brother, Colten, captured gold. Moore honed his skills in Krum, a town with about 5,000 people near Dallas that rarely sees snow. He worked on tricks by launching his snowmobile into a foam pit. After a brief training run on snow ramps in Michigan, he was ready for his sport's biggest stage - the 2010 Winter X Games. In that contest, Moore captured a bronze in freestyle and finished sixth in best trick. His agent BC Vaught said Moore did not see his sport as too extreme, but as "a lifestyle". Fellow snowmobile rider Levi LaVallee recently described Moore as a "fierce competitor". "A very creative mind," he said. "I've watched him try some crazy, crazy tricks and some of them were successful, some of them not so much. But he was first guy to get back on a sled and go try it again. It shows a lot of heart." The Winter X Games is an annual event focusing on the action sports of skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling.
