Ceramic 3D Printing

During my first degree at H.I.T Institute (Israel) I built a 3d printer which print ceramic materials - Porcelain, clay & glass. Currently, this is the LARGEST porcelain printer in the world (80x80x80cm build envelope).

  1. omg thats awesome can you build me one, are they easy to clean ?
  2. Where did you get the paste from?
  3. not entirely successful though eh?
  4. Can anybody tell me what recording of Vivaldi's Winter is used in the video? And possibly give a link to it online somewhere? Thanks!
  5. can special ceramics utilized in modern engine components be 3d printed?
  6. What are some ideas to decrease waste and artifacts? eg temperature controlled enclosed cabin or something to keep material in place shortly after leaving the extruder. Anything to increase control.
  7. Can you explain further when you mention printing glass?
  8. Hi Eran, It looks like you have a hose for a continuous supply of clay slip coming into the side. Is there a pump coming into the side, and an auger coming down from the top? Thanks. Do you have any specs or drawings for the extruder?
  9. I have read about the different printers. Part of me thinks that I might like to have it completely made and then tinker with it to get the clay going. It would be great if it could print both. I know I would have to do some adjusting each time. However, my husband assures me he wants to also help with getting a printer in here to Play with. I know there are some maker bots that are already pre made, just not sure if that will work or wich version. Thanks again
  10. (from Chile) Hello. Congratulations for your 3D printer. ¿Would you be able to make a printer just specialized in architectural models? (perhaps capable of modeling in two or three colors)
  11. I'm looking for a couple of things, I think. I have been on the rep rap site many times. I would like to play and try my hand at the ceramic printing to see what I can get going, but from time to time I need something printed in 3d, actually right now I'm waiting for a quote from a service on a tiny chair for a sculpture, if the cost is a lot I just may have to invest into a printer. So that is where I am headed.
  12. It depend on your goals - are you looking for ready-made-printer, with no long assembly proccess or not? Start here: reprap. org and read about the different printers!
  13. what version of rep rap would you suggest? I'll start there.
  14. Hi Bridgette. I had planed the printer based on stocked materials - mainly - Aluminium Profiles. The easiest way to start is to build a regular reprap or similar printer, and then mount a clay extruder - air pressured, auger or similar. Note that the most importent part is the clay extruder, all the rest is easy to fabricate. If you need any help, let me know. Good luck!
  15. Do you have any specs on how you built the machine? I really want to make one and I believe you are starting from a rep rap.
  16. I've seen this vase before, btw - nice designs! you'r from Israel, right? I might print it someday :)
