A Chinese police officer has set a new Guinness World Record for planking. In the 2016 Plank World Cup held at the Shangrila Hotel in Beijing, Mao Weidong remained in the position for 8 hours and one minute, breaking his own previous record of 4 hours and 26 minutes. It was a two-men's game between Mao and U.S. contestant George Hood, also a former record holder. The contestants met the first fatigue point at the first two hours during the game when some contestants began to quit, leaving only Mao and Hood in the game. Hood stopped his challenge at 7:40.04, leaving Mao alone, who stayed in the plank position for more than eight hours. "We do. I'm proud of this man. I truly am. He was the best. I love the guy like a brother," said Hood. "I hope more people would join in the plank exercise for fitness and better physique," said Mao. Before Mao entered the scene in September 26, 2014, George Hood held the previous planking record, with four hours and one minute.
