Did Dinosaurs Ever Live Alongside Humans?

You may have been told online or at special interest museums that dinosaurs once lived alongside humans, or maybe even still live today. Here we look closely at this claim, and discover what science can tell us. This animation was based partially on two wonderful books: 'Hunting Monsters' which is about the quests of various scientists and explorers attempting to discover mythical beasts, some of which turned out to be real! You can get yourself a copy here: https://www.amazon.com/Hunting-Monsters-Cryptozoology-Reality-Behind-ebook/dp/B01B867JTO And the book 'Dinosaurs - How they lived and evolved'. This is a huge, full-colored book, summarizing all the discoveries we've made about dinosaurs since the first was described in 1824. It's the best book I read this year (the year is still young I suppose but... It's pretty dang good!) Below are links where you can learn more about each claim. Where possible, I also link to articles by creationists debunking these claims because some of our viewers are reluctant to accept secular sources alone: FOSSIL OF DINO EATING MAN - This was an April fools joke put on by the NMSR. Unfortunately, some dino enthusiasts were so eager to believe that it is still used today in debates as proof that humans and dinosaurs once lived together: http://www.nmsr.org/april_fool.html DINO AND HUMAN FOOTPRINTS TOGETHER - These "human" prints are actually dinosaur tracks with the toes naturally filled in afterwords, leaving a vaguely human-like shape: http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/paluxy.html Creationists also now accept that these prints are not human: http://creation.com/human-and-dinosaur-fossil-footprints DEAD KILLER WHALE MISTAKEN FOR DINOSAUR - here is the full video the internet photos were grabbed from. In the video you can clearly see the whales front flippers. https://youtu.be/sumif3fCDH4 DEAD SHARK MISTAKEN FOR PLESIOSAUR - basking sharks often float after dying and quickly lose their gills and jaws as the rot. This gives them the appearance of being a long necked, small headed creature, superficially similar to a plesiosaur. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zuiyo-maru_carcass Here is a creationist site telling other dino-enthusiasts that it is a shark after-all: https://answersingenesis.org/creationism/arguments-to-avoid/didnt-a-fishing-boat-find-a-dead-plesiosaur/ SUPPOSED STEGOSAURUS SCULPTURE - Here is an excellent video by Trey the Explainer on the subject: https://youtu.be/SC3powddXWg ICA STONES WITH DINOSAUR CARVINGS - These carvings were hoaxes - created by profiteering Peruvian farmers and sold to gullible tourists. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ica_stones Here is a creationist group warning about the controversial history of the stones: http://creation.com/ica-stones-bad-arguments DINO SOFT TISSUE - I'm working on an animation going over the work of Mary Schweitzer and others that have found soft tissue inside dinosaur bones. I just have a place holder up for now but check it out for lots of good reading in the vid description: https://youtu.be/AL-Qv0BCGCc OTHER SOURCES Info on Crocodiles and their kin living alongside dinosaurs: http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/taxa/verts/archosaurs/eusuchia.php Info on Coelacanths: http://vertebrates.si.edu/fishes/coelacanth/coelacanth_wider.html Info on evolution of dinosaurs from early archosaurs: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/232678368_The_Early_Evolution_of_Archosaurs_Relationships_and_the_Origin_of_Major_Clades Info on the space rock that partially caused the dino extinction: http://geology.geoscienceworld.org/content/19/9/867 Info on the 5 major extinction events in the fossil record: http://science.sciencemag.org/content/215/4539/1501.long If you liked our animation, consider supporting us at https://www.patreon.com/statedclearly CORRECTIONS: At 3:32 I show the skull of Dimetrodon coming out of Devonian rock. Dimetrodon is actually found in the Permian rock. Thanks to YouTube user "Not Tuska" for pointing out my error.

  1. Many are asking about carbon dating on a triceratops that put its bones at just 30,000 years old. Here's a video I made for ya on the topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNY8xC3raDY
  2. Are we goi9ng to ignore the thousand's of depictions of dinosaurs in ancient texts. In particular the Inca stones?
  3. I don't know if I'm just uninformed, but...
...that example skull from the graph seems very advanced for something from the Devonian. That's the kind of thing I'd expect to see Late Pennsylvanian at earliest.
  4. No dinosaurs are reptiles
  5. This is dumb, we don't call birds dinosaurs. They nearly completely new creatures. It is like calling a human an Australopithecus.
  6. He bro,stated clearly
why you didn't upload any new video. Please upload we are waiting.
  7. Wow awesome that you featured Trey's channel at the end! it's very good and educational!
  8. you should upload more often, once a week perhaps....i know i would watch it, it is extremely interesting
  9. Documentaire mettant fin à des légendes sans fondements. Les premiers hommes avaient déjà fort à faire avec les tigres à dents de sabre, alors en plus si des dinosaures s'en mèlent...
  10. WELL BIRDS YES!
  11. NO.
  12. 3:31 That is a Dimetrodon's skull, right? Well, why did it come from the Devonian era, if Dimetrodon lived in the early Triassic
  13. YES THEY DID BIRDS ARE DINOSAURS (although you probably said that in the video i haven't watched it yet, i just commented before i saw it)
  14. Fuck this video was so well made and stated clearly! No pun intended. Thanks!
  15. or is it the other way around? idk
  16. and the horn grows away
  17. triceratops actually might be a younger Chasmosaurus just like Centrosaurus which is why no one has ever found a adult triceratops
  18. Short answer: no
  19. I found a living dinosaur.

    My grandma!
  20. Pennsylvanian? Mississippian? Great name choices America, not obvious at all
