Such a pleasure to see something right in front of you, old school, perfectly timed just doing its job.
so relaxing.. this sound brings back memories!
4(!) STROKE!!!
Sounds as sweet as a nut.
Be nice if our cars had flip open valve covers.
Detroit diesel belongs to Mercedes-Benz
why is it called a "two stroke diesel" if it has a camshaft(s) and valves? I know a model glow engine with valves is still like a two stroke but is really a 4 stroke.
wow great sound tick tick tick...
Odkedy má dvojtaktný motor OHV rozvod ?
That's a pretty cool valve configuration
EMD locomotive engines use two electric starters. Either two 64 volt starters in parallel or two 32 volt starters in series.
n the 32 volt case, and on later models, a protective device is inserted in the middle of the circuit to prevent starter overheating as these starters have a definite duty cycle which is rather low (as on automotive starters).
EMD stationary and marine engines usually employ air starters, and almost always dual starters.
Download this video as an mp4 360p file, launch Quicktime Player and put it into loop mode, and watch the video repeat over and over and over.
After all, that's pretty much what these EMD engines are subjected to, with 92 day inspection intervals for the older models and 184 day inspection intervals for the latest 710 EFI models.
it runs like a well oiled machine......oh wait?
6 valves per cylinder, or are those middle springs for that rocker yoke?
+PlatniumProductions 16, I believe. The EMDs are usually in a V configuration.
In 1992 I drove an old cabover tractor that had an air start 2 stroke diesel. The exhaust was black with unburned oil.
In answer to Juniortore1 yes there is such a thing as a 2 stroke diesel engine with no valves at all no cam no nothing just like a chain saw engine or a gas grass whip engine in the form of small model aircraft engines these being very simple no ignition system and in this case no injection neither the fuel and oil have to be premixed and of course the compression is high enough to heat the air enough to ignite the fuel that is already in the intake air
very cool design the injection pumps driven by the camshaft and rocker arm with rollers and it doesn't smoke like vulgar diesels do. amazing engines.
