9. Used one. Don't shoot anything at short range, or close to people you like. I've absolutely obliterated myself while wearing fully upgraded X-01 power armor using this beast. I also accidentally upset the diamond city guards shooting a super mutant close to them. It's amazing, but be careful.

11. also the ammo is a non issue. use water makers and then travel around to diamond city and goodneighbor and buy up thier minigun ammo stock. after lvl 40 they sell over 500 bullets and they restock infinitly every 48 hours basicly granting infinite ammo. faster than any other method.
    
    this weapon breaks the game. while the explosive combat shotgun has far better overall use tough. but this gun outdamages ALL other weapons by far.
    
    maxed out 85 explosive dmg is done per shot. the miniguns standard barrel fires 27 shots PER SECOND. explosive bypasses normal armor rating (this is why dense armor mod exists btw) which means this thing does 2395! dmg PER SECOND if all the explosive just slightly hits the targets (stupidly easy on the bigger targets which are the only targets the use of this gun is justfied at all) that is nearly 3 times the dmg a MISSLE LAUNCHER does per shot when maxed out but in far LESS TIME overall. for example a nuka nuke big boy does roughly 7000 dmg per shot but has to reload every shot aswell. by the time the launcher has reloaded his nuke the minigun would already fire for roughly 5 seconds doing the same dmg as a nuka nuke big boy while beeing FAR FAR better to control and aim with.
    
    there is just no contest. this gun is the strongest in the game. no matter what you do.
    
    best place to farm it is national guard traing yard office. need to be a lvl 15 legendary enemy at minimum for the gun to drop. make sure the legendary effect pool has reset so explosive is still in it. use the bloatfly method in a settlement with a cage to make sure the pool has reset before traveling there and farming. the minigun is a special weapon in the loot list therefore its the lowest droprate of all weapons in the game. special weapons all have a dropchance of 1:432 in the base game and include these weapons (the number is the minimum enemy level for them to drop):
    
    15 flamer (no clue why lol its crap)
    21 fatman
    15 gamma gun
    15 minigun
    15 railway rifle
    37 gatling laser
    
    so it can take awhile to drop a legendary minigun at the yard. but it works. another good place for this is hubris comis. this makes sure the gun isnt turned againist you because ghouls dont use weapons. while a super mutant or gunner could use this gun againist you killing you in seconds making you lose the gun.
12. Pro Tip: Get the contraptions dlc, you can set your ammo forge to make 5mm even at gun nut level one. The mats are easy if you're into the settlement system, one fertilizer and two steel = ten rounds.
13. Explosive Minigun is for noobs, Explosive Combat Shotgun is far better in burst damage and ammo efficiency.
