Three hunters found a huge surprise inside an already massive 1,000 pound gator. A family hunting near Millers Ferry Dam bagged what would turn out to be an Alabama state record Alligator. The official weight came in at 1,011.5 pounds which is equal to about 1334 cans of soda. At over 1,000 pounds not only is it a state record, but it puts this gator in the running for title of the worlds heaviest. Not to be confused with a crocodile, Saltwater crocodiles can weight over 2,000 pounds [1,000+ kilos] The family took this monster reptile to local taxidermist Ken Owens and what it found inside completely shocked him. It was a fully intact, partially digested deer! And this was no mere appetizer. The body was that of a 3 year old doe that weighed over 100 pounds. Alligators are apex predators and will eat just about anything it comes across, which for this particular beast meant some squirrels, birds and even a cow! In other record breaking news with just a few days into Alligator hunting season Mississippi's state record for the heaviest reptile was broken twice with the record ultimately going to a 13 footer tipping the scale at 792 pounds. Let's just put this all into perspective. At 13.5 feet that's as long as a volkswagon beetle and almost half its weight! One of the hunters Brian Montgomery stated βHe was a giant.β And that giant put a hole into their 16 foot aluminum boat before they were able to subdue it.
