Giant Wave Crash Lumaha'i Beach in Kauai, Hawaii

Giant waves, spurred on by El Niño, crashed into the northern shore of Kauai today. No one was hurt in this scene but many cameras and phones were lost to the Pacific Ocean. Spectators (further inland) were knocked over by powerful knee high currents and fumbled their belongings into the receding waters. 18. I used to do that a lot when I used to live in Venezuela. You get to develop some very good survival skills at the beach. Usually you get hit by the wave and do not let the water come into your nose, and then get a hold of anything. Usually just pull your claws and attach to the sand when the wave is pulling you back. Now, there are times the tide is really dangerous, do not go to the water at all. And be sure you can always touch ground. A good trick and a dangerous one is to lose all your air so your body will be heavy and now you can get grip of the ocean floor and walk towards the shore or let the wave pass. Once everything is calm you can swim up a breath before the next wave hit you. Those are all the things you learn, or grab a rock from the ocean floor to keep you away from the wave while you walk to te shore. I mean... I survived and I am 42 as well all my friends. Usually the people who drowns are the drunk ones and people who battles the waves and have no experience swimming. But waves like that are just the best!
