GoPro HD HERO - Holding Breath 5 Minutes Underwater - Static Apnea World Record

A quick demonstration of my ability to hold my breath for an extended period of time. Exceeding that of polar bears in the arctic and competing with the Australian Platypus. My current record is only 6 minutes but I'm getting better everyday. Stay tuned for more and please SUBSCRIBE.

  1. If you look closely you will see the vid skip a few times. Also look at 1:24
  2. I'm a smoker and borderline alcoholic... breath underwater (in a large bowl of water), just over 5 minutes.  There's video.  No practice (well, I attempted it on a few other occasions while drinking at my friends house).  I'll post it soon... friend has vid on his iphone.  Didn't realize it was such a crazy time til I looked up breath holding.
  3. Hi Marshall,

A fellow freediver here, nice job on the video, even holding the cam in your hand all the time!

Question though, why did you put in the the title "world record"?
The current AIDA static world record is by Stephane Mifsud, doing Static apnea: 11 minutes 35 seconds on 8 June 2009.

Also I like to warn people about hipoxia and hiperventilation, two dangers that get breath-hold divers killed.
If you do not know, look it up on Deeperblue.com/forums.
In short you need to have someone at your side checking your consciousness and able to rescue you when you faint (BO - Black Out).
If you do not have such a person, then your only option is to practice close to the ground on land, laying on your bed for instance.

You have only 1 life, please be careful with it.
