A discussion of Hitler's biggest World War II mistake.

  1. OH Uncle Joe, if only you had read up on some of old Adolf's literature, particular Mein Kampf and just maybe you could have avoided that whole non aggression pact, betrayal, invasion and a long drawn out war of attrition.
You would have known of his plans for your lands.
  2. I say killin the jew cuz that's y finnlend didn't a salt Moscow n the Russian campaign
  3. The biggest mistake of ww2 is to attack the pearl harbor and fill the US with terrible resolve
  4. attacking poland was his first and biggest mistake. allowing the british expeditionary force to escape from dunkirk was second. failing to have a solid plan to land invade england was another (the plan he whippedu p was unfeasable). letting emotions get in the way during the engalnd air blitz was a mistake. if he would have stuck to attacking radar and airfields instead of getting angry and bombing cities he would of won the skies over england. should of kept his pack with russia. should of never of split up his army just outside of moscow. should of.listened to his generals more. they were old schools ass kickers but he didnt trust them. bunch of mistakes. hitler turned out to be the dumb corporal that he really was. he was only really good at making impassioned speeches and political sneakiness and hype.
  5. like most fuehers , he didnt direct troop movement and if and when he did it was a disaster. He is a terrible military strategist and a even worse engineer. His airport was a joke, anyway, his mistake once having made it to the gates of  Moscow, was, not taking it. A blunder.
  6. allying italy was a mistake. Hitler wrote that in his last testament
  7. I think their biggest mistake was attacking China in 1937. It was stupid. They pretty much had an enormous amount of influence and control in the Far East, anyway, by then, but they just got greedy. Same with Germany. They never did stop while they were ahead. Just like gamblers in a casino. They want that one last bet.
  8. What's the biggest mistake the Japanese made during WWII? I believe that they attacked too early, they should have re-stocked their oil supplies.
  9. Yes, I think, when I get the chance, I will do it. But, I've got to think of something to talk about.
  10. Anyway you can do another history video Ron? Would love to hear more about the pacific side of WWII.
  11. You're right. But, these commanders, at least until 1918, seemed not to understand that things had changed, due to increased rapid and powerful firepower, and they just kept trying to do these Napoleonic frontal charges. Attacking uphill did work for Grant at Chattanooga, though.
  12. That's actually not a parallel. The North imposed intolerable and lopsided taxation policies on the southern ports which goaded the South into warfare. The mistake made that largely lost the tactical warfare aspect of the war was Lee's poor choice to remain in Gettysburg where the North had the superior and impossible-to-attack position of being on high ground. The South were sitting ducks despite their gallant charges uphill. Warfare 101: never attack an enemy on higher ground. You will lose.
  13. Well, the South didn't really start the war. Lincoln goaded them into it. I guess their mistake, though, was to take the bait. They should have just ignored, as best they could, all of his provocations.
  14. I've made a similar argument when discussing the South and the American Civil War. The biggest mistake the South made was actually starting the war. Everything else was just downhill from there. Pretty similar here. Everything went downhill for Germany after September 1, 1939.
  15. Oh, thanks, ms. I just didn't think anyone was interested in this sort of stuff.
  16. damnit ron! make more history lessons! been watching your beer reviews for months havent seen this til today!
  17. Yes, but I was talking about his biggest mistake in World War II.
  18. Hitler's largest mistake was his Nazi political dogma. He chose what was best for the Nazis political dogma than what was best for the German army or people every time. Hitler was a politician, Hitler was not a great general. Hitler made wrong choices long before the war.
  19. Thanks, gez. I look forward to that.
  20. he passed away in 1988 but I will be getting his full service record next year so I'll let ya know the details of his exact postings.
