From Wikipedia: The Filet-O-Fish (also FishMac, MacFish or McFish[citation needed]) (introduced in 1962 and reached nationwide status in the United States in 1965) is a fish sandwich sold by the international fast food chain store McDonald's. The sandwich was created by a McDonald's franchise owner in Cincinnati, Ohio, named Lou Groen in 1962. Groen owned a McDonald's in a predominantly Roman Catholic neighborhood where his Catholic customers engaged in the practice of not eating meat on Fridays (a practice more common in the '60s but that the Catholic Church continues to consider obligatory on Fridays during Lent). The product was named by Cye Landy of Cye Landy Advertising Agency, which was the advertising firm for that particular McDonald's franchise. It has become popular with people who cannot eat meat-based products or with dietary restrictions concerning meat-based products. For example, in Islam, the fish used in the sandwich is considered halal even without special preparation, whilst other meats require special slaughter techniques to be halal.

Steamed bun (most people miss this: the fillet bun is a regular hamburger bun but steamed), fried breaded fish fillet, half a slice of American cheese (don't ask me why you only get a half a slice of cheese, and why cheese on fish anyway???), and a blob of tartar sauce on the bun. Box it and done. Why the long wait? Because they had to cook the fish and make up your order but everybody is too busy trying to do all the other orders. There is NO slack time for someone to look at your order and remember you ordered it and are waiting, and find time to come give it to you. It's not personal. 5. You're suppose to steam the bun. That's the whole reason why I love McD's fish burger.
6. Be thankful you had to wait for the fish to be freshly cooked. If they are precooked and held in a warming tray, they are dry and rubbery.

13. the reason the fish takes so long is because it is so rarely ordered they have to cook it fresh because what is pre made goes more or less bad
14. Problem is getting that homemade one to taste and smell the same as the mc'd one and it won't! Now at £3.09 for a fillet fish too the price is def out of control!
