JOHN DEERE 5012 DIESEL 2-STROKE V12

Saw this John Deere 5012 at a recent tractor pull, it's got the massive Detroit 12v-71 two stroke diesel in it, which has a displacement of 71ci per cylinder translating to 14.0L (852ci). The beast cranks out 450hp!

Comments

  1. Over 500hp with 70 injectors on the A setting
  2. We built that tractor nearly 20 years ago in NY. It went to Minnesota for a few years and ended up in New Jersey. We are halfway done with Version 2 which is a 6030 with a V-12. It will be 1000 hp !!!
  3. Torque on a 12-71 is about 1290lb.ft @ 1400 RPM while Horse for a non-turboed 12v-71N
    476 hp, @ 2100 rpm
  4. I love that 2 stroke diesel sound!
  5. 2 strokes and a squirt
  6. Wow !!! :-D
  7. If you a turbo that would be more powerful.
  8. Did he install that engine into that tractor? Or did JD make it thata way? Something tells me he made it. But I honestly don't know...it looks factory perfect and if so...WTF did JD need a tractor with that much engine ?
  9. as a truck driver of well over 30 years I will never! forget! when I first started hauling fuel in a supertanker my boss said welcome aboard son your truck is out back and I said sweet ty! lol well it was a 1980 international 4300 transtar with a silver 92! screamin demon! in it 5×5 boxes! and 2 holes! empty in the dash N cab! hmm I wondered where's the dam radio in this mutha! or!! 10. 0:12 and yet there are cars that are illegal in america due to emissions (gtr r34)
  11. Because V12s require no big crankshaft counterweights they hot up really well and still stay reliable. Most 2 strokes respond just by opening the governor a bit. They respond so well because at certain RPMs they make about 1HP per RPM, so an increase in 100RPM may yield a 100HP increase. I use the word MAY. Most 71s and 92s enjoy being held against the governor at 2100RPM when in revenue service :)
  12. Jim McFadden use to own this right?
  13. Those 2 strokes disels pump out the power
  14. +VisioRacer Should look into it.
  15. Seen this Vid about 100 times and just now i realized this thing is not even turbocharged YET... a lot of HP being left on the table...hehehe.
  16. Has anyone tried these on methanol.
  17. ute
  18. I saw engines on big mining trucks that make this thing look like a pony motor...
  19. You know that engine really isn't that big only 852 ci most modern semi engines are bigger that this one. Nevertheless great engines I have a beautiful sounding 12v71 on my channel
  20. They where flatlander engines in Trucks ran many 318 or 8v92. Flatland screaming down the blacktop hit a hill constant down shifting.
