2. I remember when I was a kid. Around 1975ish My dad would take us to the Coon Rapids damn on the Mississippi. I would see catfish sunning themselves on the overflow part on the east bank. Them cats although I never caught one had to be at least 300# or more, and maybe 5 to 6ft in length. I spoke to an oldtimer there years later because my friends never believed me.
   He even said that although they had been fished out tears ago, he and his friends would catch them and winch them out with tow trucks and yes they were 500# fish.

4. Thought I was going to see a giant cat. These are average big blues on lake Murray. Caught flatheads on Santee that could eat these. New world record just caught here in SC 109 lb flathead. Not as big as the amazon cat at 648 lbs but nice fish on any lake.

17. I would also like to give a huge great deal of thanks to monstercats.com for releasing these fish back into the water. The fish caught,in this particular video and the particular size of them make them brood stock and they renew the populations of catfish so they are the key to insuring that we will have many more fish to catch to feed our family and friends for decades to come.
18. In the E.U. that species of catfish is known as the Wells Catfish and they have a indeterminate growth rate. Also in the Meekong river the giant catfish are also that way. I have a newspaper article with a picture of a 650 pound catfish that was caught there and has been classified as the worlds biggest catfish ever caught by man.
