Comments

  1. 04:40 one-legged shot
  2. greatest shooter greatest passer can rebound and totally make u look like u belong in 1st grade I gpt spoiled have'nt watched a game of basketball since bird retired
  3. Are you M. Jordan ass sniffers seeing this, ha ha ha, Bird the best in NBA history, I think Bird isn't even human with these shots, ha ah ah..................
  4. I was at The Hartford Civic Center to see Bird make two of those shots. On #8 Bird made the last minute shot to win the game. Nothing unusual for Bird, except that the night before he had done the same exact thing in Boston!
  5. In my lifetime it would be either him or Jordan to create and make a game-winning shot, especially in the playoffs. Maybe you would take Jordan for his ability to get the shot, but I don't recall Bird ever struggling to get his off either. Everyone in the building knew they were going to get it and yet they still delivered over and over again. Miller would be the next man up and would probably be the guy if it were just a matter of hitting an open 3. There are some amazing players now (LeBron first among them), but if I needed a knock-down to save my Granny it's those guys.
  6. I wonder what James A. Naismith ( inventor of basketball ) would think of Larry Bird . ( I hope I spelled his name right )
  7. " He couldn't jump wasn't fast" but that's OK, my man Bird was a determined player............he came to beat you everynight sometimes with a last second laser or with his passing and rebounding............ hustling too.
  8. Larry Bird, Bobby Orr, Tom Brady, David Ortiz = CLUTCH
  9. Some would say it's a bad play to risk going for the steal, but Barkley did the only thing he could to stop Bird. Once the ball is in his hands, it's over.
  10. People used to gather at his small suburb house on the outskirts of Boston and watch him do yard work
  11. bird es más jugador en el amplio sentido de la palabra, que cualquier otro.
    equipo ideal
    1) bird
    2) larry
    3) leyenda
    4) el 33 de boston celtics
    5) fench link' boy
    en ese orden.
  12. Not even Jordan could stop that game winner and he sure jumps high, todays players would be nothing if even prime Jordan couldn't stop The Bird.
  13. Larry Bird not the greatest ever
  14. That music. Larry Bird and the Jump Shot of Doom
  15. would have been ok without the starwars shit.
  16. #3 and #2 are almost identical!!!
  17. I never understood what Isiah Thomas meant by saying Larry Bird would be the last guy to walk out of the room. Can someone explain it to me?
  18. Lol Indiana Jones music
  19. I wouldn't say he's better than Jordan. but I do believe he is number 2.
  20. The fact is, Bird was VERY athletic.

First, contrary to the opinion popular among most surprisingly ignorant sportswriters and fans, there's more to athleticism than just running fast and jumping high. There's balance, hand-quickness, hand-eye coordination, peripheral vision, body control, and so many other things, and Bird had no peer in those departments.

Second, people talk about Bird as though you couldn't slide a nickel under his foot when he jumped when his vertical was 28". No, that doesn't compare to guys with the 40+" verticals, but 28" is still well above average. People tend to remember the Bird of his last 3-4 years in the league -- when he was STILL as likely as ever to get 40 on you -- but in his early days he used to dunk quite a bit. Just plug in "Larry Bird dunk" here on Youtube and you'll see some amazing stuff, dunking in traffic and-ones, taking Dr. J to the hole and reverse dunking on him at least twice, and more.
