A journalist by profession, Nayak currently holds a Guinness world record for having done 819 back-hand push-ups in one hour, breaking the existing record of 671. At a contest in Bombay organised by alternative sports broadcaster AXN, the 36 year old Indian completed 133 palm push-ups in one hour, creating a world record. Nayak also demonstrated why he is often known as the man with the "groin of steel". Three cement blocks were arranged against his groin while a man broke them with a sledgehammer. Nayak appeared stunned by the impact but recovered soon enough. His wife later admitted she was nervous, but confident deep down that her husband would be able to do it. Among his recent tests of endurance, Nayak recently received 43 continuous hook kicks in his groin from four martial arts instructors. He says he's been conditioning his groin against such knocks for the past 18 years, enhancing his performance with regular yoga and meditation. His aim is to break at least 15 more Guinness records. Nayak's wife says her husband doesn't follow any special diet regime. The only regular supplements to his normal diet are two glasses of milk and bean sprouts. However, not everybody was as lucky as Nayak at the AXN world record holder contest. Nilesh Gulgule tried to break 315 planks of wood with his elbow in one minute but was unsuccessful. Yet for the people gathered to see the contestants attempt records, it was a lesson in human determination.
