Mario Kart 7 in 1:22:22.6 (Single Segment / No-Glitches / World record)

I have re-measured everything 3 times in Sony Vegas Pro 11, and the final time is indeed: 1 hour, 22 minutes, 22 seconds and 18 frames. 1 / 30 * 18 = 600 milliseconds. I really don't care rounding it up to 1:22:23 or anything. There's official Speedruns like this for Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart Wii and even MKSC. Let me give it a shot here, and try to make this an official SpeedDemosArchives approved run / category. (I have no freaking idea how to do that though, anyone can help?) I don't even see this as a 'World record' myself until SDA approves it, but the word has a nice ring to it, so I'm keeping that until someone has proof of a faster time. If this is beaten, or never going to be accepted as an actual "Speedrun", because of lame reasons such as the trouble with counting of frames, or the unavailability of long Nintendo 3DS games speedruns or unclear "completion" or "run end" moment of the game, then I will turn this into a "How to play all 32 tracks like Gogoku7" video. Proposed rules that were followed throughout this run: - Time is measured starting the first frame of input, ends on the final frame of input before the credits play for the second time. (Rule could be altered due to hardships of counting 3DS videos frames) - All 32 tracks / all 8 Cups must be completed once in Single Player, Grand Prix Mode. (No forced order though, the one I did would be most preferred) - Any CC can be played on. (150CC recommended, but could potentially become a category) - Any Item can be used. - Any Kart combination can be used. - Street Pass Miis participating in Cups are allowed, they play with the Rubber band AI, just like any other CPU. - Single Segmented, so it must be done in one session. - You have to / don't have to finish First every time. (This is not up to me, but I'd prefer always finishing First as a rule) - You may not abuse any available respawn glitches, including on Wuhu Loop, Music Park, Maka Wuhu and Retro Bowser's Castle 1(GBA). - You may not abuse any available glitched shortcuts, including Rosalina's Ice World, Neo Bowser City, Retro Daisy Cruiser (GCN) and Retro Maple Treeway (Wii). - May be performed on an actual Mario Kart 7 cartridge or downloaded version from the Nintendo eShop, but not through any pirated copy. - First time viewing the credits can be skipped as soon as the player can, and the second time should not contribute to the final time anymore. When it does, this is the player's own fault, and the unskipable few seconds of the credits may not be removed from the final time. - A modded 3DS that allows direct capturing of your 3DS screens may not be used, and should be a category of it's own. (Proposed by the Guinness World Records website, and I agree to it because players with a 3DS capture card have the advantage of not having extreme strain or awkward hands positioning while recording, which you have when recording with a camera.) - When recording with a camera, all screens must be clearly visible. Run dedicated to former Mario Kart Wii Player's Page Champion Thomas van Deerse, currently holding Mario Kart Wii's 32 tracks Single Segment completion World record, and dedicated to Ray Parsons for being a sexy Canadian, two World records destroying beast. Comment on this run: F*ck this game, f*ck this category, f*ck this run, f*ck Worldwide races, f*ck VR. I spent 3 hours holding my 3DS awkwardly, and my hands cramped up, and it still hurt, a few days later. I'm going back to Super Mario 64 DS Any% speedrun World record attempts starting next week, like back in 2008.

  1. not bad (I'm frensh and i'm looking for actually how to do the same speed run but better than that (plz be cool for my english level :D ) SO i think you can do better than that men ! )
  2. Came here for the rainbow road run, was not disapointed. Good run man
  3. Doesn't MK& run in 60fps?
  4. one of the CPU's was a mii!?!
  5. I know this is only frames, but wouldn't it be faster to select "Continue" on the kart select screen, rather than scrolling through the different parts?
  6. "A modded 3DS that allows direct capturing of your 3DS screens may not be used, and should be a category of it's own."
    WAT

it's the first time I see someone saying that a shitty recording is a different category than recording in high quality.
  7. Has anyone realized how easy this can be to beat?
  8. Snaking is kinda possible here, right?
  9. Wait, so how the hell did you get the star on DK Pass at about the 1:05:00 mark?  Everything else in the video is somewhat within my understanding, but getting a star in first place should be impossible.
  10. Well done
  11. Them speed run tactics tho
  12. level:ninja
  13. In Cheep Cheep Lagoon you kept hitting those crabs. You should have used your leaf item!
  14. Are you sure that was me, and not an imposter? I don't do Worldwide Battles at all... Anyway, the camera I use is a JVC Everio GZ-HM 435. It's not the best camera, but it works fine with a medium budget and video editing skills.
  15. Hey! It's you! The guy who trolled me in balloon battles! >:( Anyway... Past is gone! :) Good job! May I ask: What camera are you using? :)
  16. No, Coins do not increase your speed anymore beyond having collected 10.
  17. do the coins still make a difference in speed even if you have 10?
  18. Any proof to confirm that? You don't seem to have any Time Trial videos, and I don't know your VR either.
  19. If you are good as well.
  20. The explanation for my hopping is dependent on the situation, sometimes to odd out my angle in which I am heading, other times to just have contact with the ground for as little time as possible.
