Absolutely disgusting how the IAAF haven't scrapped this yet
The womens 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m records are joke records. People at the IAAF know this but can not remove them for fear of legal action.

The woman in second place also holds an unreachable record, in the 800 metres. Both doped up to the eyeballs, showing exactly how much effect doping has and how little credibility the olympics has with its never ending losing battle against the dopers. Look at the russians doping today and all the denial you see as though it never happened. When bolt beat gatlin in the world championships in 2015, four of the eight starters in the 100 metres that day had previously been caught doping. Gatlin has always been a scapegoat but the reality is there's always been cheats everywhere in athletics.

How naive were commentators and reporters back then??? There are some very clear clues: in the mid 1980s 90% of the top times and athletes in the mens 400m competitions are african american, afro-carribean or of african descent. But some how...some way...through the miracles of eastern europrean female 'genetics' (that conveniently skipped the male population in these countries) the womens records are being smashed by whites......

It is not down to the public to make doping issue judgements (guesses), and such is patently unfair. It they wish to criticise competitors then perhaps choose something easier such as gender. As 'women' with no breasts, no uterus, no vagina, four times normal testosterone level, and internal testes are allowed to compete against real women then athletics has become insane in terms of fairness. Take a gander at the Rio Olympics womens 800 metres final after taking out insurance against personal injury. Because on first viewing everyone falls off their seat laughing!

ya, koch was probably doped, but let's face it, marita koch is a legendary athlete even without drugs. we all know she would have kicked ass, even if she was not roided, because she is naturally faster. during those days, it is not possible for the gdr to be doping and the americans and soviets just to look on without doing nothing about it. its obvious that the soviets and the americans alike also doped. these countries were politically against one another so the sports grounds became a battlefield and each country wanted to show that their athletes are the best, so if koch was doped, than i bet flo jo, Eshford, devers, torrence and others were doped too. it was just a case of who's drugs took better effect and which country covered it up better. we know USA covered their dirt up really well. At the end of the day , we can only appreciate what koch has shown here, and that is that woman can run 48 and 47 seconds for 400m, our woman nowadays (felix and co) are just about championships and money, and they don't really care about pushing each other to the limit, i bet if felix ran 400m as fearlessly and fiercely as she ran the 4x400m, she would have already broken the american record and secured har place in the top ten all time list, richards ross tried but she had no one to push her, felix could have tried to take her but those two seemed to keep out of each other's way. now we do nothing but wait to see what miller and jackson can bring to the table. also even if koch's record was removed and replaced with perec's time, that would not help any one, , because no woman today can come close ven to perec's time, so what is the whole point, i'd rather we keep koch's time to fully appreciate what woman can really do if they want to be boltesque.

Clean white women don't run like that. Now that the sport is clean, we see what has happened. Blacks DOMINATE. Marie Jose-Perec would have DESTROYED those records if she was using the stuff that they were using. Cathy Freeman probably would have too.
More simply keep 2 lists of records, one for the one performed till february 1989 and a new list starting march of the same year when out of season random tests started. In this way we protect the right of modern athletes to have human WR to deal with without wipe out completely the fatigues and the sacrifices of these ladies
Marita is very talented sprinter differently from US drugs cheaters! Flo-jo, marion jones, tory edwars, mary decker and lot of others were involved in CHEATING! Nowadays situation is even more absurd. World got to know it just in recent days, when strange deal between WADA and US exposed, according to which WADA enabled to USE DOPING for almost all US sports stars: simone biles, sisters williams and many others!
