My son David is an 11 year old 5th grade Running Back who run's a 5.3 40 yard dash. He is apart of the Jenks Trojans Youth Football program in Tulsa/Jenks, Oklahoma. Over the last 3 seasons, he has played for 2 different teams in the Jenks system.3rd and 4th grade with Jenks Silver and 5 th grade with Jenks Maroon. The coaches on Jenks Silver moving him from starting running back to 4th string running back because he kept out shining the coahces son. So after 2 years of this, we put him back in the Draft for the 5th grade. The coaches from Jenks Maroon assured us they were not about favoritism and that the best players would play but after the the first couple of games when my son had better stats than the assistant coaches son who was the starting QB, my son lost his playing time. The first highlight is the first game of the season when he had over 100 yards in 4 carries...all in the first half. For the entire season (9 games) he had 2 fumbles. This type of treatment can be very devistating to a child (who is 1 of 3 African American's on the team. Well I hope all enjoy the highlights!
