N Scale layout with lot of action

This is a small clip about my very first n-scale layout. I hope you enjoy the fantastic us-trains and the landscape. I have used Atlas code 80 track and Peco nr 6 turnouts. The longest train on the layout has over 50 cars (boxcar train). If you are interested in swiss railways and nice areas, please have a look on my channel for other trailers and clips.

  1. Painting that concrete wall semi gloss dark blue was a huge mistake on both counts!
  2. What I really do NOT understand about US model railroads is this obsession with trains that are almost miles long, with locos interspersed with the rolling stock along the length of the entire train ? I know that in the US real trains are this long, but from a modellers standpoint, with the restricted lengths of track available to us, they just do not work realistically. You can almost see the lead locomotive chasing the tail of it's own train.... This is especially so on Helixes and other tighter curves.

Why do you not use more realistically sized trains on the model layouts, or is it something to do with "manhood" and how long a train I can actually put together and run on my layout, compared to my neighbours model railroad ?
  3. you run the train way too fast ....slow down
  4. At a train show I beg my mom to get me double stack cars at the L&N depot
