NES Jaws: 3:34.03 [Previous WR] - Speedrun

Watch me live at http://twitch.tv/CLChambers00 Another 2 second increase! I optimized the first two encounters with a little tighter execution and then beat Jaws with the sub faster than I have ever done before. Very excited to have it included in the run. I am really interested how these new Jaws videos will be picked up by others and see if there is yet more new things to discover. I am convinced that we need a new TAS for this game. Some interesting information on Jaws. Jaws has 5120 HP and an invulnerability period between hits of 24 frames. This means that in order to TAS the jaws encounter you have to fire the bombs with 24 frame waiting period. Your normal power level 1 harpoon does 8 damage. Raising your power meter doubles your damage. So at power level 3 you will do 32 damage. The bombs do 2x what a harpoon will do at each level. So in order to defeat Jaws it will require 80 hits, doing 64 hp damage per hit. What this means is that if you wait 25 frames between inputs to offer oneself a buffer of 1 frame then you are wasting 80 frames, which is about 1.3 secs. My Jaws encounter is 282 frames slower than the TAS, about 4.7 secs. Which means that the average frames between my input and when Jaws could be damaged again is only 3.525 frames. That is 3.5 60ths of a second. After thinking of it in that manner, I did pretty well in this world record run.
