Nintendo's 3 Biggest Mistakes - Gaming Historian

Gaming Historian goes over the top 3 biggest mistakes Nintendo has ever made. Recently Nintendo unveiled their 'Nintendo Creator Program' for YouTube. People are calling it one of their biggest mistakes. A mistake? Yes. Their biggest? Hardly. 'Batty McFaddin', 'Cool Intro', 'George Street Shuffle', 'Easy Lemon', 'Space 1990-B' by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ ► New viewer? 1. Well... What about the time when Microwavesoft bought Rare... Micromans ruined Conker and Banjo-Kazooie.

    And what is Rare doing now?! Making Kinect games! Buy Rare back Nintendo! Please!
  2. In the first 30 secs you say that Nintendo has a right to copyright claim a video. This is at worst incorrect, and at best misleading. Under Fair Use they no right to claim copyright infringement, however, they do have the right within the confines of YouTube's copyright flagging system to do it. In a court of law, they would lose these cases spectacularly, but nobody pushes them because content creators are small players and Nintendo has lots of legal power at its disposal. You may want to clarify this.
  3. I don't think sticking to a cartridge for the N64 is a completely horrible idea on the grounds of one thing;

    save files.

    The requirement to buy memory cards was the one thing I hated about my PlayStation. It's also why I went to Xbox when I found out it would come with a built in hard drive as a standard component vs getting a PS2 or a GameCube and still having to deal those stupid little cards.
  4. Discontinuing the NES Classic edition may prove to be #4 on such a list.
  5. Sony would have become a hardware manufacturer anyway. Its "Terminator Time Travel 101". Changes in the past will not significantly alter the future. Had Nintendo continued with the CD add-on, Sony would have controlled the CD hardware and software licensing for the add-on. Essentially giving Sony a CD version of the SNES. At the 11th hour, Nintendo realized it and cut ties.

    Had the partnership continued, Sony may not have entered the console market as early. But would have already been in the console manufacturing business. Slapping the "Sony" brand on one would have been the eventual next step. At least Nintendo made them work for it in this time line.

  8. So Nintendo cheated on Sony with Phillips, causing Sony to go on to date a rich and successful person.
  9. Virtual Boy had us seeing red returning systems to their stores...
  10. One word: Kimishima.
  11. I actually wished that there was a ninetndo play station because if the playstaion was just the technology they developed than imagine if they finshed

  15. the biggest mistake Nintendo had was the pokemon mini have you ever heard of it... exactly
  16. I think that getting rid of Sony was a good idea think of this Nintendo would just become a bland company and Sega would to (not like there not stumbling right now) but today nintendo is the definition of innovation
  17. Selling rare to Microsoft
  18. Saying no to Sony, saying no to DVD, saying no to the internet. Been sniffing their own farts since the SNES.
  19. Only for their cut-throat policy I would never buy any Nintendo products.
  20. There's actually a very interesting alternate history that considers the ramifications of what might have happened if Nintendo went through with the Sony deal: Player Two Start. It's really cool with complex narratives and visions for potential games with that partnership, so you should check it out.
