Mid shot of Arvydas in pool with assistants giving him oxygen mask STORYLINE Sibling illusionists Arvydas and Diana Gaiciunas thrilled an audience in Lithuania on Saturday as they attempted to break the record for voluntarily staying underwater without breathing aids. The event was held at Water World park in Drustininke, 120 kilometres (75 miles) south of the capital, Vilnius, and broadcast live on LNK, a local televison channel. The two performers were also wrapped in chains for the attempt. According a digital clock used in the LNK broadcast, Diana Gaiciunas recorded a time of 11 minutes seven seconds, whilst Arvydas lasted for 15 minutes and 58 seconds. It was not clear whether officials from the Guinness Book of World Records or any other organisation attended the event, nor if the attempt will be officially recognised. Arvydas appeared to be targetting a men's record of 13 minutes 42 seconds which was set by the Canadian Robert Foster in 1959. The brother and sister act, who have performed other daring feats such as being encased in ice for 63 hours and 31 minutes, were later taken to hospital for tests.
