Part 3, Mike Powell and Carl Lewis World Record Long Jump Competition

Fourth and fifth rounds including the two longest jumps in history, shown back to back, by two different athletes! This was probably the best field event competition in history. Mike Powell and Carl Lewis competed against each other in the long jump at the 1991 World Championships. Lewis had a winning streak of more than 60 meets over the previous 10 years going into the meet. Both were at their best on this night which saw four of the seven longest jumps in history! For those with short attention spans, go to the 3:40 mark to see the world record jump.

  19. the tournament of carl lewis is unreal he s beaten in only one jump but he deserved the title of long jumpers of all time 8.83 8.84 8.87 8.91 in the same tournament 0__0
  20. Bob Beamon's long jump record may have been beaten, but I think it stands as the most amazing feat in track and field history. He broke the current record in the long jump by almost TWO feet. That is absurd. It took 22 years and lots of sport exercise technology and technique improvements to top that.
