The ACC sponsors competition in twenty-five sports with many of its member institutions' athletic programs held in high regard nationally. ACC teams and athletes have claimed dozens of national championships in multiple sports throughout the conference's history. Generally, the ACC's top athletes and teams in any particular sport in a given year are considered to be among the top collegiate competitors in the nation. The ACC is considered to be one of the six collegiate power conferences, all of which enjoy extensive media coverage and automatic qualifying for their football champion into the Bowl Championship Series (BCS). With the advent of the College Football Playoff in 2014, the ACC will be one of five conferences with a contractual tie-in to an "access bowl", the successors to the BCS. Founded in 1953 in Greensboro, North Carolina, by seven universities located in the South Atlantic States, the conference added additional members in late 1953, 1979, 1991, 2004, and 2013. The 2004 and 2013 additions extended the conference's footprint into the Northeast and Midwest. The most recent expansion in 2013 saw the additions of the University of Notre Dame, the University of Pittsburgh, and Syracuse University. In 2012, the University of Maryland's Board of Regents voted to withdraw from the ACC to join the Big Ten Conference. On November 28, 2012, the ACC's Council of Presidents voted unanimously to invite the University of Louisville as a full member, replacing Maryland. 1. One more thing. We didn't lose to Ole Miss last year. The year we did the SEC had more victorious Bowl teams than any conference. Go figure and play Troy to the wire again.
2. Tyler Corn. On last kickoff by Alabama with 2:07 left. Watch Alabama's #42 Keith Holcomb get tackled by a Clemson player that held Holcombe on the ground until running back made his first cut. Missed call #1. Then at goal. The pick play. Missed call #2. How do you run 99 plays against the best defense and NEVER get a holding call. The whole nation and the candy boy media was against the Tide too. Watch the kickoff with no bias. One of the worst misses ever by an official.
3. In the days of polling, 70s, 80s, 90s, you lose a game like this and you'd drop out of top 10, having to fight to get in it. The close wins vs. Troy ? and NC State could've dropped you even further. How do you fail to score against PITTSBURGH IN THE FOURTH QTR AND MAKE IT INTO Cfp? Joke

9. It really didn't hurt us though. 2,3,4 all lost. All we have to do win ACC and we're in. But I'm still disappointed. But when you're loving on the edge for that long it's gonna happen. Maybe this loss will help the team. But dang. Those records we had probably won't ever be broken.
