Ported vs Sealed Enclosure / Sub Box

http://www.gofasthavefun.ca Which one to get? In this video I go over some of the basics when it comes to comparing a ported enclosure to a sealed one. Both of their own set of unique characteristics and they should be taken into account when building a sound system, in order to achieve the type of sound you're going after. One is not better than the other, you just need to know the application and what you're trying to achieve. Sealed enclosures are definitely better when space is at a premium and you're trying to hit a variety of frequencies easily. Sealed does require more power to run though however, because the air inside helps act as a suspension it also adds resistance. So make sure you have a good amplifier hooked up. Ported/ vented enclosures are a more efficient design when it comes to bass output. 1. there's a difference in ported box size as well.. smaller box with smaller port will be cleaner hitting notes then big ported box
  2. by booming you mean that fast wobble excursion movement?
  3. I have pictures of that orange and purple
Impala when the guy was still building it. The interior wasn't even installed yet..... I wish I could post pictures in the comments.
  4. H
  5. I have this shitty sub box I made by cutting a manufacturer one to fit in my trunk(the whole thing including sub was 30 bucks don't worry) and it has 2 holes. it's sized improperly. would it sound better/louder if I sealed the ports or should I leave it like it is?
  6. Hi, I really enjoyed watching this video from you! I think you may enjoy watching some similiar videos yourself. I would recommend checking out Z4Z Gaming on youtube. Just search his name "Z4Z Gaming" and he will pop up! If you drop him a subscribe, that would be awesome! Keep up the good work :D
  7. Ported moves more air and is louder, seal hit bass notes better!!
  8. Which would be better for a car that has an open trunk, like a truck. I drive a 00' Honda crv and I already have a sealed box. I'm quite satisfied, but I still want to know how a vented(ported) box sounds.
  9. whats the differemce between ported and bandpass? i have a bandpass enclosure for 2 12's and may save up for a ported one depending on the benefits
  10. i always go with a ported box. better sound quality and much more and louder bass.
  11. i have both, and i prdfer ported because i listen to trap music, which has shit tons of bass and 808s and shit
  12. Closed is better!
  13. Okay. So 1. what's better for a Dodge Magnum? ported or sealed? and what's better? Digital amp OR anolog amp? and can I do a ported sub & sealed sub? or will they cancel out each othet?
  14. i hate when people say a sealed enclosure has more "accurate" bass. first off, being a subwoofer, it is designed to accentuate certain frequencies over others. the only way to get accurate bass is to have a speaker that is completely flat across the entire spectrum it will be using. and thats not a subwoofer.
  15. Then how the hell do you explain bose?
  16. if i want to be like those people that drive down the street what do you prefer
  17. very simple . sealed boxes give you way more sound quality crisp bass but u need high RMS power . and ported box sound more boomy and hit hard also and u don't need as much power because of the port holes these boxes have . sealed for more quality . ported for more boom boom .
  18. nice intro...not lol
