He ran 57 secs for the last lap here, but he has run 53 secs for his last laps in the 2004 Olympics 10,000m and the Beijing Olympics 5000.
He ran the last 100m in just under 12 secs, I timed it at around 11.9. Incredible acceleration and speed at the end of a 10k, and even more impressive given that he was running at under world record pace for most of the race.

I can't conceive how he could speed up drastically in the last lap after having ran for 24 laps at a high enough speed.

The other Elite runners are running in "Beast Mode" so they won't get overlapped, but Bekele is in "Hulk mode"!!! This is just crazy, i have no Words..,
