Rio 2016: Interview with Wayde van Niekerk, the Olympic 400m world-record breaker

Wayde van Niekerk of South Africa set a world record Sunday in the men’s 400-meter race at the Olympic Stadium in Rio. The 24-year-old clocked in with a time of 43.03 seconds, beating Michael Johnson’s record of 43.18, which has stood since 1999. Despite the achievement, van Niekerk already has his sights set on new goals. CCTV’s Dan Williams has the story. 2. He's drugged to the gills
  3. Good for you young brother I never thought anyone would break that record.
  4. Humility. A true Champion. Athlete of the year. No need to vote.
  5. God doesn't care about who can run round a track the quickest. Thank your doctor ;)
  6. I love this man. so humble in success. obliterated the world record and looked like he just walked to the shops.
  7. So, God doesn't intervene in anything but the men's 400 metres! No end to human folly.
  8. SO HANDSOMMMMEEEE
  9. Wayde (the Jamaican Anthem is a dedication to God ) it starts ETERNAL FATHER bless our land guide us with your mighty hands, keep us free from evil powers..... so keep on giving thanks to GOD my friend cus only through being humble does success comes
  10. I'd you look at the split he came through 200 meters tells me he could challenge Bolts 200m record! I hope he decides to try the 200 again.
  11. I consider myself an atheist but it is great to see such a humble man competing in such a controversial sport, he really could be the new Bolt who inspires people into this sport.
  12. when he kept on Giving God the glory.....he jus earned my utmost Respect...thank you Wayde , you gave God the glory at the tym you shud have bn proudest, for tt i am sure Our Father in Heaven will greatly reward you
  13. I would like to see him break under 43, and then try the 800m.
  14. South Africans are like Americans ie very religious.
  15. Wayde is the real thing and perhaps the leading edge in track and field since Bolt is planning to retire. It' great to see such a humble and talented young man give God the glory for his gift.
  16. For those who want to believe in steroids and choose to leave God out of the quation, think about this: For example, a man prays: "God, make me the strongest weightlifter in the world." So if the person praying does nothing about what he prayed, why would God reward him for his laziness and lack of self-discipline? Wayde prayed, he trained. God blessed him. Wayde then gave God the glory because he recognises that God gave him the talent and God gave him the blessing - winning - fastest of all time. Not all people choose to give God the glory. Many take the glory for themselves. That's a very dangerous place to be in. Wayde may possibly be an authentic Christian; it certainly sound like it. Beautiful race man, well done and thank you for your faithfulness to God.
