Wayde van Niekerk of South Africa set a world record Sunday in the men’s 400-meter race at the Olympic Stadium in Rio. The 24-year-old clocked in with a time of 43.03 seconds, beating Michael Johnson’s record of 43.18, which has stood since 1999.
