Robert Peter Williams (born 13 February 1974) is a Grammy Award-nominated, 12-time BRIT Award-winning English singer-songwriter. His career started as a member of the pop band Take That in 1990. He left Take That in 1995 to begin his solo career, after selling 25 million records with the group.[1] Since then, Robbie Williams has sold more albums in the United Kingdom than any other British solo artist in history .[2] He has sold 70 million records worldwide.[3] His album sales stand at over 53 million, with singles sales over 17 million.[4] Williams entered in the The Guinness Book of World Records when he announced his World Tour for 2006, selling 1.6 million tickets in one single day.[5] He has been the recipient of many awards, including fifteen BRIT and six ECHO awards.[6][7] In 2004, he was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame, after being voted as the Greatest artist of the 1990s.[8] Robbie Williams is the artist that is currently featured the most times in the UK Now That's What I Call Music! series.
