Ship hit by rogue wave in the Bay of Biscay

Rogue wave encountered in the Bay of Biscay on oil/chemical tanker Pink Coral in mid February 2014. Ship was sailing on its way to Rotterdam when this huge irregular wave came across our way from our beam. L.E.: Just for clarification, the first 30 seconds contain the rogue wave, the rest is just random footage.

   Yep. It sure was a rogue wave. It looked like a set too! The swell in the ocean appeared to be like 4ft and then this 10ft set rolls by!

    A rogue wave is a wall of water. This one maybe in 10 or 50km will become a rogue but we just witness a bigger wave than the usual ones. To be rogue it would need to be much steeper. However here the slope of the wave is soft, not steep.
    
    So it is an unusual wave but not rogue, because of the sweet slope.
11. Textbook rogue wave to be sure! However, the fellow filming it may not have been prepared for or he may not have appreciated the value of filming of that wave. Most freak waves are not caught on film at all!

14. I think everyone here has an idea of a rogue wave from watching too many movies. they don't need to be 60 feet high to be dangerous.
15. Great view, great quality but no rogue wave in the video, that was the dissapointing part =( One big wave in the beginning of the video was seeing but that was a normal big wave nothing unusual about it.

17. Some of those guys here are really dumb! Check the definition of a roque wave. This is a roque wave. It just isn't thaaat spectacular when the wave doesn't break and is not steep . It is filmed from like 15m above sea level too. Look how calm the sea is and then this wave comes by :O
