Running 285 (33's) Tires Without Rubbing on a Toyota Tacoma

Want to fit 285/70-17 tires on your Toyota Tacoma with little to no rubbing? Here's how I did it. You will need to correct your alignment, lift the front end up 2.5 inches or so, and some plastic trimming. You might still rub if you go off road, but on road rubbing will be significantly reduced or eliminated. Here's what you'll need to fix that TACO LEAN: 3/8" Poly Strut Top Plate Spacer: https://wheelersoffroad.com/product/toyota/tacoma/1995-5-2004-tacoma-4x4-and-prerunner/suspension-steering-and-chassis/miscellaneous-suspension-parts/38-thick-poly-top-spacer/ Extended Stud Set: https://wheelersoffroad.com/product/toyota/tacoma/1995-5-2004-tacoma-4x4-and-prerunner/suspension-steering-and-chassis/miscellaneous-suspension-parts/extended-length-top-plate-stud-set-1-5/

  1. dude. what yr is your taco, I had none of these problems and run 285's.  I also wheel and have bushwackers.
  2. hey quick question.. I will be buying Tacoma TRD 2017 and would like to see if I can fit P265/75R17? I am not planning to lift. I will after 2 years of driving it.
or let me know what is the biggest tire sizes I can get if I don't plan on lifting it. thanks alot...
  3. Nice setup brother! I noticed on the main pic before you click on the video that between your windows its black. Did you paint that area black with plasti dip? I like it and might do that to my 2003 Tacoma. Did you post a video on it? After watching this whole video I wasing hoping for a glimpse of the area painted but nope. LOL
  4. not bad for gas mileage! thanks for reaply . maybe we should subscribe together
  5. Did you recalibrate your speedometer to get the right miles?
  6. I am looking at these exact tires for a 2005 GMC Sierra Z71. Did they change to ride of your Tacoma for better or worse? Thanks
  7. m8 do u even go offroad with thst truck, smh
  8. That was exactly what I was thinking. I will try out the tape tomorrow. Thanks for the reply 👊🏽
  9. Great video, nice taco bro!I subbed. I like your channel. submit back if you could. I got a 2015 taco im work on.
  10. How big of gap from upper control arm to tire do you have when tires are straight? I have a 2016 taco with just 2 1/2 inch front leveling kit running 285 75 16 ko2s. And have like about half inch space. Is that alright? Stock wheels
  11. My tacoma is lift with 3" front and with those tire (285/70R17) do i still need to trim?
  12. Great video. Was wondering what the difference would be with 1.25 spacers in the front. i have a 13 taco and trying to make sure everything will fit right before i buy. will the spacers make a difference??
  13. What is the part number to that spacer for taco lean and who makes the spacer.I installed 3/1 level kit and spc adjustable control arms now my tacoma leans to driver side about a 1/2 inch. Them alignment specs worked perfect 2 pos caster and 0 degree camber wiith a little pos toe in.Thanks for sharing info
  14. NO Rub!!! Unless you're in reverse... or hit a bump. Or sneeze
  15. nice video if you want to go off roading you need a high travel lift which can cost a few grand
  16. Can also shim out bumper mount bolts with about 7 washers on each bumper mount stud to give you a little more clearance so front of tire will not rub when turning or going in reverse
  17. I'm a Toyota technician and own an 08 taco and just for the sake of your knowledge and so you don't fill brains with false info all tacomas have the same alignment spec if they are the same year it differs very minuscule per generation
  18. I see everywhere online how people will have to cut there fenders and/or body mount even with a 3inch lift to run 285s. I have a 3in pro comp lift with 285/65r18 tires and a 18x9 +1 offset wheel and I have never rubbed at all. Even with some light off roading I've never rubbed. I have not done any trimming at all to any part of my truck. I don't understand why my truck clears my tires while other trucks with similar lift/ wheel set ups don't.
  19. I don't take my tacoma off road , I have a Jeep for that hahah
  20. Just lift it
