Full Time RVers give you their input on which class of RV they think would work best for which situation and why they chose a Fifth Wheel

This was a very informative video, thank you so much! me an my hubby are right in this spot... Fifth wheel? Travel Trailer? Class C, well, I can say this talked me right out of the Travel Trailer. fifth wheel scares me cause its so big and we are not. It's looking like a class C, however, we will be full timer's, and ive not seen many class C's with good amounts of storage. ooy so much to do before we even buy.. thank u for your video's!!!
Great info. Thanks guys.
What about a house full of 5 furry babies? Getting rid of them is not an option. :D I was thinking A or C would be best (no transporting from vehicle to trailer each time). But who knows? Maybe I belong in a permanent dwelling. #firstworldproblems

There are also front engine diesel class A's as well as toyhauler class A's.
Maybe The Deprey can do a show about the Super Class Cs, they are very nice and can tow more than a Class A diesel pushers. The Super C offers superior trailer towing capability. Super C's are rated at 10,000lb, 20,000lb and even 40,000lb towing capacity. Most Class A diesel pushers are rated at 10,000 to 15,000lbs. We own a Class A Diesel but I do like the Super Class C towing capability.
this is were we keep bouncing back and forth, Class A or a 5th wheel. We plan on living in it at least 9 months out of the year if not more, while keeping our sticks and bricks for a while as a home base, for taxes, etc. I wish you two would discuss where you buy your RV.. I know some dealers out there are good and there are alot who are not, especially as far as service, etc. I've heard horror stories of getting the rv home and it won't work and it's not even 24 hours old and the dealership is more like, sorry about your bad luck . How do you decide "Where" you purchase?
class a or c pick a same gas mileage more living space. b gets better mileage most people can't affourd to fill the tank. other option small trailer same room as a class b and you can pick the size of the tow car
Good discussion,pros and cons. Thanks.
Have you talked to people who have the retired diesel school buses, and if so what is your opinion on that?? (Just a quick Yes or NO, and if you know people who like them or NOT).
We got our first RV and will becoming Full Timers soon. We chose a used Class A 38-ft. Diesel Pusher with automatic leveling jacks (3 slides). With a Diesel pusher, the engine is in the back and you don't hear it. There's no bump in the front because the engine is in the back. When it gets too windy, our awnings automatically retract. My hubby retired in 2008 and we were considering a 5th wheel, but I couldn't imagine him hooking and unhooking it when he gets older (remember he's retired) and I didn't want to sit in one place too long because we want to TRAVEL. When taking hills, and high winds, including driving, I want to make sure I can take over driving if he ever gets tired. We have coverage if we break down ($50 deductible) and our coverage includes towing and hotels until our rig gets fixed. Pretty much bumper to bumper. Our tires are 22.5 inches and they are truck/bus tires. If you shop around, you can get an excellent price on them. We got into our Class A for less than 110K and will never look back. We have 2 bathrooms, sleep number bed, full size denver air bed for any guests, (when not in use, it's a full size leather couch.) We have two leather couches in our coach. We have a 50" 4k TV; flat screen TV outside of the rig and 32" TV in the bedroom. There's a large fridge with ice maker, double sink, stove, oven, convection oven, washer/dryer combo, appliances that I normally have at home such as a coffee maker, Water filtration system (two jumbo canisters), one charcoal, one ceramic... with UV, large shower, Two Surge Guard protectors and much more. We opted for an in-motion satellite so we can watch TV as we're going down the road and have XM radio so we never lose our favorite music. Depending on where we go, we've towed our vehicle with no issues. Our Diesel pusher has gotten on the average 11 MPG. We keep it serviced at all times. Even though it's the TWO of us, I want the comforts of home, and you just can't get that in a Class C.
Class A diesel pusher 40' 4 slides all the way. Cruse at 75 to 80 all day long, 8mpg. Our second choice was the fifth wheel and I had the F250 to pull it. But we move almost daily and the fifth wheel was too much work.
When I traded in my travel trailer for my new fifth wheel I really wanted a used diesel pusher but I already had a diesel truck and you can't beat the space in a fifth wheel vs a class A. I went with opposing slides in the living area and a slide in the bedroom. My coach is 100" wide and my slides are 42" deep so my living room is 184" across I have a shower that's as big as the one in my house. I have a washer dryer combo and tons of storage in the master. I bought a 34' so I can get into state and federal parks. I am about 6000 pounds under my max towing capacity. I have done a lot to my truck to make it safe and to keep everything cool. There is to much to mention but I have no chucking no swaying when I get passed its a beautiful combination. If I were to go with a class C I would go with a super C. I'm 6'6" and the van chassis doesn't have enough leg room to make driving it comfortable on long trips. I agree with you that the class B are way over priced for what you get.
Your right.... 5th wheel is the ONLY way to go. I have had all but a class B, and I find the 5th wheel is by far the best. I happen to have a toy hauler because I like taking my Harley and golf cart every where I go. My next RV will be a Raptor 5th wheel and a Freightliner Sport Chassis to pull it.
Whoa you just answered all my questions! I like you and I will share you! Lol
You are so right ! I have been looking at all of the options and it's crazy trying to figure it out. I went through them all and decided that for my travel time (half year) that a Class B is all I would need . OMG .. the prices of the B are ridiculous ! So now I am back on Class C ! I can't seem to make a decision ... feeling stuck !
Had to rebuild my sons 6.0 at a tune of 11k. Ford quit making them in the trucks in 2008, went with the 6.4 for short time, now have the 6.7 which has around 380 horses...
We had a class A and someone hit us while going to a campground and totaled it :-(
I think the main thing is : get something well within your price range. I will be traveling alone much of the time, so am looking at Class A & C so I can drive off in case of danger and replace the hookups later. If I go with a Class A, I will chunk out the extra change and go with diesel.
We had a 2010 F250. Think it was before then with the problems.
