Sealed vs Ported Demonstration by Audio Xperts using SPL meter to show output differences

So in this Audio Xperts Live video , we will take a look at the output differences between sealed and ported subwoofer enclosures. The Sealed vs Ported debate is almost as serious and Ford Vs Chevy, let's find out what the meter says. Then lets take it for a test drive and see if the increased output sounds better on the road. 1. I watched, waited for the expert to arrive and explain how bad this was.......and wrong.
  2. the sound that is coming from the sub.
  3. i have a dodge magnum. .i want to get subs ..would 3 12's L7's sound deeper than 2 15's L7's ...and what box and amps would you recommend?. .i want deeeeep bass
  4. Keep in mind, which I'm sure you know, Sealed enclosures tend to have must tighter bass. Ported enclosures tend to be more sloppy. The sealed I believe, is nicer sounding and work well if your interested in sound quality ~ RTA reading.
  5. Correct me if I'm wrong... but considering the wavelength of the bass at the frequencies specified, could the distance between the drivers and the mic not be at least partially responsible? Could the first sub not be closer to a wave node than the other?
  6. I have a alpine type R in a ported box. 1000 rms for sub and 1000 from amp... I listen to more rock n roll and heavy metal music and I'm not getting super good bass from rock songs. Rap is ridiculous loud but what should I do to get more bass from hard Rock?
  7. Hey now, you're a rock star, get paid!
  8. colonel sanders does car audio now?
  9. Hey thanks for taking the time and making the vid !
  10. This is way too basic to cover any of the real physics and is in no way a complete analysis of sealed vs ported.
  11. What?
  12. ported is distorted bass
  13. sealed is better accurate bass
  14. I have 8 subs for DJing and they are all sealed and they all shake concrete floors, so this video is false. sealed boxes also give you lower frequencies (19-28hz) on my system!
  15. who care? a closed enclosure is tighter and more precise specially in the car! spl is for retards.. music lover go closed..
  16. thats some good weed he smoking
  17. The sealed will handle more power without reaching mechanical limit in most cases. The ported will reach mechanical limit before the sealed if it is playing outside tuning and the further it plays outside of tuning the more excursion and mechanical limit it will hit. This video is wrong in most cases and the fact you say you understand the science better than anyone in the area means you are bull shitting me.
  18. Depends on the space there going in, in my opinion. Conventional trunk, sealed box with the speakers facing the back of car. The car is the other half the box. Ported for hatch back, SUV or vans.
  19. You obviously have not heard a JL Audio 12" with a JL 500 amp, lmao. Blows both of them away in the low end and db.
  20. Type of music you like is also something to consider. Music with lower bass like hip hop, dubstep, or anything really bass driven go ported. Rock and classic styles of music with tight, punchier kicks that wont be playing out long bass lines can sound just fine with a sealed box.
