Comments

  1. I know this is an ancient video to comment on, but what the heck. Good choice on the 124gr. Penetration is important and the 124gr will give you that with the kinetic energy to do the work. The 147gr is a viable round for suppressed shooting. Generally it is a subsonic load. Obviously one doesn't use a suppressor for self defense shooting.
  2. Different guns shoot different rounds with varying accuracy depending also on the shooter. Almost any combat round will "do the job". You should pick the one that you shoot best through your particular gun. Think about it. If someone came up to you and asked you which round you would prefer to be shot with your answer would be "None! and second choice would be "Whichever one you are going to miss me with".
  3. Many great comments, but when my my daughter asked the same question for her G26 I was thinking reliability issues. My advice was that 115gr is good for the range and cost savings because you always have a perfect grip and if not so what! In self-defense situations your grip is what it is, maybe one handed, or off handed. 124gr or above will cycle more reliably in those situations. Limp wristing is real and fte's and ftf's at that time isn't good!
  4. I recommend carrying 165 grain 40 caliber bullet going as fast as 124 grain 9 mm is kick ass 500 foot pounds of energy and only two fewer rounds carry capacity
  5. This is good advice for 9mms with 4inch or longer barrels.
Check out "Shooting the Bull" ammo quest. 3in barrels turn most of these rounds into FMJ rounds because they lack the speed to expand them properly.
90 to 100 grain seem to be the ticket for 3inchers.
  6. How do you feel about

    Shell Shock and
    L-Tech
  7. How about something in lead free?
  8. if your shooting +P ammo why not just get a .40cal
  9. I've noticed in testing with gel type mediums, some of the 124 gr loads penetrate deeper than their 147 gr counterparts.
  10. 124 grain sig sauer + p in 9 mm when I need something small. But I almost always Cary my 40 . Cause a 9 will expand most of the time, but a 40 will never shrink!
  11. how dose the +p124gr  Compare to Non+p 124gr?
  12. I've started trying the Gorilla SIlverbacks and the OATH Tango in my lady's 9mm. I love them. I'm worried about overpenetration and maxing out the stopping power in a home defense situation. Solid copper cnc milled projectiles. The OATH shotgun slug is a monster
  13. In 9mm 124 grain federal hst or speer gold dot, a happy medium between velocity and bullet weight. I do like 147 grain to though.
  14. I own the FNS-9 Full Size which by the way is an excellent mild recoil, deadly accurate gun. It doesn't like the standard 115 gr. bullet regardless of the manufacturer, unless in +P, and even than that's a little iffy. The gun much prefers 124 gr. weights, standard or +P even better. I've yet to try the 147 gr. round, but I know without a doubt she'll just eat it up. The FNS is my edc loaded with Federal HST 124 gr. +P jhp. Nasty ammo by the way.
  15. I have 150g Federal I forgot what kind and idk I thought heavier would leave less penetration guess I was wrong lol
  16. I carry the critical duty 35g +p
  17. until wich grain Glock 17 chamber has tollerance until explode. In other words wich is the grain limit for Glock 17
  18. I really don't know which bullet weight, maker, or fps to use, which is why I watched this. I have everything from Midwest 115gr to Hornady 135gr. I also got a Sig Sauer 124 gr to see. Still deciding but lots of choice to shoot at the range.
  19. I carry the polymer tipped Nosler defense bonded JHP 124gr+P in my 92fs and sub compact.
