Shane Hamman, World Record Squat and American Record Clean and Jerk.wmv

Shane's second and third squats were both IPF world superheavyweight records in 1994. Check out the amazing speed and ease of his squats! This is why he was urged to try Olympic lifting, and subsequently became the top American Olympic lifter. I had the privilege of interviewing him for Powerlifting USA Magazine at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs while he was on the team. The complete video of the 1994 USPF Open Nationals, from which Shane's powerlifting is taken by permission, can be purchased from Rickey Dale Crain, www.crain.ws

  1. I definitely did not expect to see someone reverse the direction of 900+ lbs and slam it back up as fast as this guy. Him and Clarence are proof about explosive speed and how it equates it power is quite real. Louie Simmons wasn't full of shit.
  2. Too bad the last lift wasn't another 5 kilos, he'd have made it. This was 18 pounds more than Ken Patera's top official lift. However, I like Patera's better because he was at least five inches taller and weighed less. Thye taller the man, naturally, the more distance the weight must be moved in all phases of the lift. Height has no official bearing on rating of lifts. Unofficially, it has a lot of bearing, plus the height to weight ratio.
  3. This dude look like a strong hobbit.
  4. shiiit, even my warmup is not as fast as his 1rm
  5. great squats form n depth. great clean n jerk. looked solid right arm looked like the weak point. awesome dude thick as thick

  7. Looks like he took the biggest shit in his pants @ 3:20
  8. that speed tho...
  9. for how much he weights, that is pretty bad actually, lifting 230 at around 150 kilos himself, when you have people on the 105kg category lifting more than 140, impressive? yes, world class? no.
  10. Paul anderson is back
  11. @1:08 nice flexibility
  12. Andrey Malanichev... Please...
  13. I would love to see this dude jump
  14. Why his oly lifts so weak? May be american record but is so fat should be stronger
  15. should've tried over 1000
  16. Pretty easy when your 4 feet tall
  17. Dafuq. That jerk speed. Does he even know that is heavy? Do I even lift?
  18. All shall bow before my speed.
