First off, this "exhaustion" you speak of is countered by a NATURAL state scientists put the shark under called tonic immobility, which relaxes the breathing muscles of the shark to calm it. They put a 15 minute limit for keeping the sharks out of the water as that is a safe amount of time. Secondly, sharks feel minimal pain, or at least it is MUCH harder for them to feel pain. Also, where in the world do you make such an assumption that "hooking" a shark is harmful for their jaws? Could you

Off Cape Cod, they simply harpooned the satellite monitor without really disturbing the shark. Why hook the shark and take it out of the water on a platform? Kind of drastic if you ask me.
