SHOT PUT Observing J.GILL records throws 19,98m 20,01m by Didier POPPE.m4v

First stage of observation is to check the position of the thrower in the key positions and during the different phases of the throw. This video from D.Poppé shows these different key positions for the two 7,26kg record throws by Jacko GILL from two different angles. Before doing a more detailed biomechanical analysis using the appropriate software , the use of slow motion and still standing pictures is a good help for the coach to reinforce his 1st "live" impression from the competition area. Also a good way to compare different throws of the same thrower at different period and , of course , different throwers. But one must never forget that observation of the speed factor , including the rhythm and the relative speeds of the different part of the body should stay a priority for any serious analysis . Watching only slow motion or still pictures can lead to very suspicious and even false deductions.

  1. @TheBruiser012 Hm I dont think he's skinny for his age or anything. Most senior shot putters are just fat (to fat imo) and Jacko is pure muscle which makes him look skinnier I think. Gogo Jacko! =)
  2. I meant with the senior implement. He won't throw a 5.44k (12lb) shot as this is the US high school weight only and not used internationally. Although I wouldn't put it past Gill being able to surpass that mark with that implement.
  3. Absolutely incredible. Will he be the worlds first 80 footer?
