Video of today's press conference announcing the partnership to replace the current CAD/RMS System for half the anticipated cost. Spokane County & City of Spokane have agreed upon a 15-year inter-local agreement to replace the current DOS based Dispatch & Records Management System. The new system selected by a joint County-City committee will be provided by New World System Inc.

When I first sat in a patrol car as a Spokane County Sheriff Reserve Deputy in 2007 and saw CAD/RMS for the first time, I didn't know whether to laugh hysterically or just cry. The former would have been inappropriate and disrespectful, the latter would probably have cast doubt on my psych eval :-)
As a software engineer with 30+ years of designing and implementing state-of-the-art computer systems in my "day job" I realized that we were throwing our LE protectors into the field with ridiculously outdated systems - Stone Age computer systems that looked like my college projects in the 21st century. It is great to see this finally happening!
