8. In 6:20, I saw that you left the white manufacturing protection on the beeper. You should remove that so the sound from the beeper get out properly, and you get rid of that uggly white spot under the display. ;-)
9. the thing that you are not sure what it does. seems to be a buzzer. is where the beep sound comes. I see in another video that you have the same doubt.
10. Use sandpaper to lightly sand the ends of the rod until the bearing will slide on snugly. You can also cheat and chuck the rod in to a drill and use it to turn the rod in your hand while you hold the sandpaper. I've never resorted to that as it generally only takes a couple of minutes worth of sanding to get the bearing to fit. In a pinch, I've also used a bastard file when i couldn't locate any sandpaper. Doesn't take much. Makes life much easier.

13. Good tip with the tin cans. I ordered the same version Black Widow you have. My plan is to use a set of 1-2-3 machinist's blocks for calibrating the axes.
