Click here to watch part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TynUjaZOcyo&feature=youtu.be First off, sorry I have been gone for a while. I have been on vacation so I have been unable to post any more of my series. However, I did have time to put together this video on Doo-Wop music. Doo-wop (sometimes doo-wopp) is a style of vocal-based rhythm and blues music developed in African American communities in the 1940s, achieving mainstream popularity in the 1950s and early 1960s. Built upon vocal harmony, doo-wop was one of the most mainstream, pop-oriented R&B styles of the time. After finish this video I came to the conclusion that doo-wop didn't evolve much, but it's still nice to have all the top doo-wop songs wrapped up into one video. Song list: 1953 The Orioles - Crying in the Chapel 0:05 1954 The Crew Cuts - Sh-Boom 0:30 1954 The Chords - Sh-Boom 0:55 1954 The Penguins - Earth Angel (Will You Be Mine) 1:20 1955 The Moonglows - Sincerely 1:45 1955 The Platters - The Great Pretender 2:10 1955 The Platters - Only You 2:35 1956 The Five Satins - In the Still of the Nite 3:00 1956 Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers - Why Do Fools Fall in Love? 3:25 1957 The Dominoes with Billy Ward - Star Dust 3:50 1957 Danny & The Juniors - At the Hop 4:15 1958 The Platters - Twilight Time 4:40 1958 The Platters - Smoke Gets in Your Eyes 5:05 1959 The Flamingos - I Only Have Eyes for You 5:30 1960 The Drifters - Save the Last Dance for Me 5:55 1961 The Marcels - Blue Moon 6:20 1962 Gene Chandler - Duke of Earl 6:45 1962 The Drifters - Up on the Roof 7:10 1963 The Drifters - On Broadway 7:35 1964 The Drifters - Under the Boardwalk 8:00 Dave's Music Data Base (source): https://www.facebook.com/notes/daves-music-database/top-20-doo-wop-songs-of-all-time/331776951629

  1. I am so in love with Doo Wop! Well anything 1920s to 1990s really. 😍 😍
  2. Why are there so many shit-skin primitive niggers on this? The best doo-wop was the white bands and majority white bands. The marcels original lineup was mainly white and on the recordings as well, I've seen the gold record pics. Anyway, you left off a ton of better stuff from DION, bobby darin, paul anka, etc etc etc.
  3. あ
  4. No Dion and the Belmonts?! They are the first group I think of when it comes to Doo Wop.
  5. GOD i miss this era. you could understand it, you could dance to it. built a whole generation around it. you want to get people off their asses at a wedding put 50's on. works every time.
  6. Should of put my favorite doo wop group, The Chantels on here
  7. Great! But looks rather comical for me nowadays :-)
  8. I was just born the other day and I think doo wop is the best. I am thinking of starting a doo wop group soon.
  9. I can imagine slow dancing to a few of these songs and falling in love in the process.
  10. Are you saying 18 out of the best doo-wop song are from black groups and the Platter's 4 times? You  include Danny & the Juniors  and The Crew Cuts, are you nuts? Were is Dion and the 4 Seasons the list is long and these black groups were great , but they weren't alone.
  11. Maybe a little bias for the Platters.
  12. I only have eyes for you is my favorite song
  13. Is there a cd that contains all these songs?
  14. victor. borge
  15. Ah the platters always gets to me and flamingoes
  16. I'm 32 and this is my childhood.

My older brothers are ten+ years older than me. My sister is 8 years older. As a child, "get out of my room" was the most common phrase. I spent a lot of time with my mom and dad and this was the music in the car and in the house. I can't hear half of these songs without thinking of my mother cleaning the house. (cliché but true)
  17. How is At The Hop Doo Wop ?
  18. So many people wasting time about who is or isn't on the list or what compilation is or isn't doo wop. Just play these, enjoy the music and if raised around the 50's like me...the memories. I remember sitting out on the stoop in the Bronx harmonizing.

    Tomas Amill
    Phu Cat 70-71
  19. My son born 1965 n love my era music.
  20. Love the Oldies, like me ! I am 71 yrs old & haven't heard w/in  the younger generations, that's worth lisenting   to. The 50s/60s & some 70s had it all: great  talented, classy, not only with music. The performers of "back in the day" took pride, not only in their music, but dressed "to the nines !" Look up some of the prerecorded  / DO WOP programs & they use tto present themselves, like supers stars, which they were ! I've noticed some of todays performers, usually come to stage in old worn off T-shirts, torn off, faded jeans & tennis shoes, some haven' EVEN BOTHERED TO COMB THEIR HAIR Some performers (especially rrock / metal bands, whatever) smell badly (BO!) Todays overall (so called music) leaves a lot to be desired, so I'll continue to stick to the best  of Oldies, but Goodies music ! To each his/her own !!
