It will be the eighteenth game in the WWE game series (fourth under the WWE 2K banner) and will be serving as the follow up to WWE 2K16. WWE 2K17 was officially announced by WWE and 2K, when they revealed Goldberg as the pre-order bonus character accompanied by the debut trailer featuring Goldberg. 2K also announced that the game will include the two versions of Goldberg (WCW and WWE), along with two playable arenas (Halloween Havoc and WCW Monday Nitro). WWE announced an NXT Collector's Edition. The set will include Apollo Crews, Nia Jax and Shinsuke Nakamura as playable characters part of the NXT Enhancement Pack, a lithograph designed by Rob Schamberger and signed by Shinsuke Nakamura, an 8-inch collectable action figure of Demon Finn Bálor, trading cards, actual ring canvas from the NXT TakeOver: London event, 50% more points in NXT for MyCareer Mode as well as the Goldberg Pre-Order Pack. The NXT Enhancement pack will also be available as DLC at a later date for the price of $9.99. 2K released a Suplex City TV trailer which featured pre-order bonus superstar Goldberg promoting his gym with a phone number of 1-844-SUPLEXC which converts into 1-844-787-5392, dialing the number will activate a voice mail tone of Paul Heyman directing you to Brock Lesnar, when directed to Lesnar he says that he isn't interested in talking to which the caller hears destruction in the background. WWE 2K17 sees the return of fighting in the crowd, making it the first time since WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008, where it involves wrestlers fighting through the crowd and into backstage areas. It also sees the return of backstage brawls, which transcends from the ringside during Falls Count Anywhere or No Disqualification matches, and a feature that was last seen since SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain. The responsiveness of the gameplay greatly been improved for each game systems that were updated such as ladders and taunts. The game also introduces a new secondary submission system, similar to the Breaking Point submission system that was currently seen in the last-generation versions of the WWE 2K Series. MyCareer WWE 2K17's MyCareer mode introduces a promo engine, where Superstars can express themselves to the WWE Universe and also call out or respond to other WWE Superstars. Backstage interviews with Renee Young can now lead to a backstage brawl. How a player competes, reacts, what is said and even what attire is worn can make a difference in a Superstar’s journey through the WWE. This mode is exclusive to the PS4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. In past MyCareer iterations (and in real life), new WWE Superstars start off at the WWE Performance Center, debut on NXT, and work their way up to a spot on Raw or SmackDown. Now, if you succeed in the opening tutorial matches in NXT, head trainer Matt Bloom will offer to fast track you to the main roster. If you need work, he’ll recommend you remain in NXT and develop further. As you rise through the ranks of WWE, Paul Heyman will take notice and attempt to take you under his wing. He’ll offer long term challenges like holding a title for an in-game year with the promise of a big payout and can become your manager. With the debut of the Promo Engine in WWE 2K17, players will be able to experience this vital aspect of sports entertainment in a whole new way. Promos can be slotted into various segments of the show so players can cut a promo at whatever time they like. Defeating your rival in the ring and on the mic will provide boosts to VC and popularity. For the first time in MyCareer, players can make VC off of their merchandise. Design a shirt and wear it on a show as entrance or in-ring gear and fans will buy it based off of your popularity rating and skills in the ring and on the mic. Among other new features, players can now hold two championship titles at the same time. WWE Universe The WWE Universe mode now recreates real WWE television programming as it features a new show presentation system, along with the incorporation of run-ins, as well as pre- and post-match attacks. Also introduced is a promo engine and new cutscenes. Downloadable content During the broadcast of Smackdown Live, nine characters were announced in week 1 of downloadable content superstars leading to the game's release; they were Austin Aries, Godfather, Papa Shango, Mojo Rawley, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, Tye Dillinger & Eddie Guerrero
